  1. I’ve always heard (I think from former Fulbrighters from my university) about the National Screening Committee reccommending about 2x as many candidates as there are grants, but I’ve never actually seen anything from Fulbright stating such. Can anyone point me towards a website or something that says this? Edit: I’m dumb and can’t read the reply literally directly above mine. Disregard me lol.
  2. Hey guys! I'm running into a bit of a problem coming up with my list of schools to apply for, mostly because my proposed research is extremely niche. I am super interested in studying Norwegian Art (or if that's too specific, Scandinavian Art) and why it is seemingly absent from the canon of art we look at in America. I'm having a hard time coming up with programs though! I heard that George Washington has a professor who specializes in 19th century Scandinavian Art, but I cannot find any information about whom this dream professor actually is. Another consideration: Would I be better off to just pursue a PhD in Scandinavian Studies, with a focus on Art History? I kind of would prefer to do a PhD in Art History so that I could work in the museum world, but if my prospects are better in Scandinavian Studies programs, I'd definitely consider them. (also if you know of any funded programs in Norway, that would be pretty awesome too, but I realize this is unlikely). Any tips would be welcomed! Thanks!
  3. Hi everyone, I'm currently at a summer internship at a pretty widely known art museum, which I also interned at when I was in high school. I was thinking of getting a recommendation from our director of education (mainly because this seems to be a pretty important title) for doctoral Art History programs, but I'm not sure if this is the wisest. First, the director doesn't have a PhD, does this immediately discount them? They have an MA from a renowned school (but not one I'm planning to apply to). Second, like I said, my extent of interaction with this person is relatively slim, boiling down to 8 weeks in high school and 8 weeks this summer, with a few short run-ins between. Third, logistically, if I wanted to use this rec for multiple schools, would I just have to pester them from another state? Or would it be something they give to me to upload? I realize the fact that I have such hesitations probably means I shouldn't use this person, but I think I might need to, because my primary Art History professor, who has written many a recommendation for me in the past, is on sabbatical this year in a location where they are very hard to contact. Thoughts?
