  1. It's more about how you finish, so if your gpa is higher at the end they should look at you more favourably. Definitely apply, you've got a good chance of getting in if you meet the requirements.
  2. UK universities care mostly about your grades and relevant experience, they tend to gloss over everything else. You'll probably get into LSE, assuming you have the money to pay for tuition and rent. Oxford will be tougher; I'm not sure of your chances because you just about make the cut with an overall GPA of 3.7 but also carry some research experience. It's worth applying, but, keep in mind that Oxford will have a lot of applications from people with 4.0s or the equivalent of 4.0+ and experience, so it will be tough competition.
  3. Congrats! They’ve all got good reputations. Go to whichever you most prefer that you can afford. May I ask where you did your undergrad and what grade you got? I’m thinking of applying to similar courses
  4. 'Development as Freedom' is pretty standard. My favourite is 'The Country of First Boys'. A lot of the stuff he wrote with Jean Dreze is good
  5. Yeah, then go with fuzzylogician's advice. Get as much first hand info as you can. I would also recommend on reading up on tenants rights and building standards. In most cases I would guess it's not necessary but better safe than sorry eh
  6. Go see it if you can. I ended up living in a pretty horrible place because I couldn't get a proper look at the place. My flatmates and I ended up hating everything and each other owing to our situation
  7. Hi all, Does anyone happen to have an idea or stats on what a typical masters applicant looks like? With this I am prioritising what point of their career an applicant is in, such as freshly graduated, 1-3 years of work experience etc. I would prefer info for masters applicants in Europe applying for social science programmes Thanks in advance
  8. Long time lurker, first time poster; have mercy. Many people on this forum put their stats up online for people to know their background and to evaluate what their chances are. Yet something has always struck me as odd with this. Whenever anyone details their previous institutions they always put something along the lines of, "top 50 research university", or something along those lines. Why the anonymity? Unless you're study at a super small institutions I would think it virtually impossible for anyone to find out who anyone is. Is it to do with people wanting their anonymity? Is it to prevent bickering over institution rankings? Are people worried that admissions officers will know that we check for application updates every two minutes? Can someone please shine a light on this topic? Tune in next week same bat-time, same bat-channel
