  1. Hey everyone, So I have really been starting to lean towards doing my education degree (i.e., teaching degree) once I complete my undergraduate degree. I was originally planning on going into psychology to pursue a doctorate, but I am reconsidering for various reasons. Firstly, I love teaching . Secondly, I love interacting with people at work (which teachers of course do), and thirdly, because I am interested in administration. I have a pretty good GPA and I suspect by the time I am done my degree it will be ~3.85 on the 4.0 scale. My question is, if I went on to become a teacher and did a masters and Doctorate of Education degree in the future (not PhD), what kinds of doors would that open for me? I have gotten a mixed bag of answers, so I figured I might as well ask the cafe community
  2. Hey everyone, Just wondering, what are the job prospects like outside of academia if you have a PhD in sociology? Are there high paying careers to be found? If you have any insight, let me know!
  3. Hey there everyone, A while back, I decided that in light of my love for sociology, and my absolute lack of interest in anything else, I aspire to become a professor of the discipline. I'm beginning my honours program in sociology in September (going into my third year of undergraduate study), and I am quite nervous to say the least! My grades have been good thus far throughout the course of my first two years, as I have maintained an A average in all of my courses. However, I know that grades are not everything if one wishes to be accepted to graduate school (although if someone could tell me what grades would be sufficient, I would appreciate that ). Does anyone have any advice to give on what I should do over the next few years to ensure that I can be accepted into a Masters program and then ultimately a PhD program? I live in Canada, but I'd be willing to go just about anywhere for graduate school Thanks everyone!
