  1. I'm currently weighing masters program (higher ed) offers from Harvard and Penn. Does anyone have useful insight to share about Penn's program as compared to Harvard? Personally, I have felt from my interactions with Penn that Harvard has a stronger community vibe, but maybe that's just me. Thoughts? Anything about academics, internship opportunities that make for notable comparisons? Thanks!

  3. @Djdjdjdj happy to share stats: Admitted to Higher Education M.Ed. Program Age: 25 Undergraduate GPA: 3.58 (neuroscience major) GRE: 167 V, 158 Q, 4.5 AW Professional background: 3 years working in undergraduate college admissions
  4. Admitted to Higher Ed! And yes, I can't seem to access anything either. Glad I'm not the only one. For a second I was thinking "Jeez I can't even figure out how to get onto the website...are they sure I'm Harvard material lol?"
  5. @hottabasco yes I noticed. They also updated their application deadlines to next year's, and they now say applications "are closed" (referring to next year's applications).
  6. @NorthStar Is this for masters students? Or just a specific program(s)?
  7. What makes you all think March 2nd?
  8. Also, does anyone know how long it takes to get a decision once your app is in? For the masters programs.
  9. Question- for their priority deadline, does that mean the app had to be in by then? or that your file said "ready for review" by then?
  10. @clc1520 That is my understanding. The website says late March, but from last year's forum, it looks like decisions were posted in early March. Like the 4th, 5th.
  11. @PremLeague Thanks for pointing that out. I agree. I wouldn't post things I don't know, but those 2003 numbers (for whatever that's worth 15 years later!) are indeed accurate. They were posted right on the HGSE website. You can look it up in the internet archives.
  12. @jmaroon Ah, good to know. So that would mean they are admitting fewer PhD students than they used to...because even back in 2003 they had just under 600 applicants, but they accepted more. For the masters programs, do you know which ones are more or less competitive?
  13. So...this is probably pretty much useless information, but I thought I'd share it anyway since it's interesting. In 2003, the HGSE masters program acceptance rate was 54% (761/1404). In 2003, the HGSE EdD (there was no PhD) program acceptance rate was 13% (79/592). I tried using the internet archives to see if HGSE has ever posted acceptance rates, and unfortunately 2003 was the last time they posted them. From 2004 on they were removed. But in any event, it's interesting. In the years prior, the masters acceptance rate fluctuated between 53-65% and the PhD acceptance rate held steady at 15%. Who knows what it is now though...
  14. Hello everyone! I was recently admitted to Northwestern's MS program in Higher Education Administration and Policy. I heard back just 8 days after submitting my app- amazingly fast! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had insights about the program from experience (or friends, etc.). Anything good to know about the pros or cons of the program? Please share! I'd really appreciate it.
