  1. I'm going to Maryland. Super excited.
  2. I've been admitted to University of Maryland for the fall. I've been looking at housing websites and trying to plan for my move. The problem I'm having is that I've never leased an apartment before and I don't really know what to expect. From experience, I'm hoping anyone can tell me what's involved in the process from making appointments, checking places out, getting approval, credit checks etc. How long does it actually take to find housing? I was planning on flying to Maryland (I live in California now) and looking when I move, but I'm wondering if I should make a trip out there specifically to look at places and then a second final moving trip. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Checked my status online with Maryland. They're supposed to send me an email with funding info, but I have no idea when that will be.
  4. Thanks guys! Heather, I do plan to attend in the fall if I do get that official notification. As far as tuition goes, (yikes!) I plan to go very part time the first year. After a year, hopefully they'll grant me residency. It's pretty crazy how expensive things are, but hopefully I'm getting more for my money and a better education out there than I would here in California.
  5. Received some unfortunate news today. The history department at UMD didn't recommend me for admission. I had applied for the dual program.
  6. Yay! Congrats! Did you apply to the HiLS as well? My email didn't have any information on funding either.
  7. I'm in the same boat. I'm a bit concerned though, because that recommendation/admit email didn't mention anything about funding. Just that if you haven't received an official letter yet, the delay could be due to something about materials. It just sucks, because Univ. of Maryland also lists my status as pending even though both of the departments I applied to HAVE made a decision.
  8. I applied to only two schools and one of them being UMD. They emailed me a reccommendation/admit letter with a preliminary response form and I sent it back. The problem is that I'm waiting on approval from the graduate school apparently. I applied to the HiLS program though, so that maybe why it's taking some time.
  9. Reccommendation/Acceptance letter??? I applied to the dual-degree HiLS program. On about February 20th I received a letter from the College of Information. It said that I was being reccommended for the HiLS program and they attached a preliminary response form. It asked for what semester you were admtted and if you're going pt/ft etc. I'm getting technical because I'm confused on whether I was accepted or not now. I'm now getting new student emails now about registering for classes, but Testudo says that my status is still pending. Today I called the history department (the college of info. and history department have to make separate decisions) and she didn't know why I was still pending because the history department already made a decision. I guess it's all up to the graduate school at this point. I'm worried, confused.
