  1. Yeah I did that too...But I thought maybe a follow-up note was in order while they hem and haw.
  2. Do you think it's smart to write to professors while we wait? Tell em how much we love them?
  3. I'm also still waiting to hear back from CUNY's anthro department. I called last week and they said expect to hear in one to TWO weeks...Ugh! They must know I have nothin better to do than wait!
  4. I got into Columbia, U Chicago, and U Mich (the only ones I applied to) with a 3.2 GPA, and took the GRE for kicks and did well. I don't think they're that competetive.
  5. I have emailed just about every possible contact at the school to see if they know what my notification is...and none of them have gotten back to me. Argh! It's already 4/06! any thoughts?
  6. Remily, I already have my MSW from Columbia--i'm on this forum bc I'm applying for a doctorate. So feel free to send me a personal message and I can answer your questions.

    FLAS problems

Who out there is waiting to hear back on both admissions and FLAS? are these notifications made simultaneously? And, how competetive is FLAS funding?
  8. When I was getting my masters, I got 7K a year in need-based grant money. The rest was loans and work-study.
  9. Fellow Columbia Applicants-- Did any of you have a strange email exchange with GSAS? I got an email from them sending me the link to my application tracking--(which should have been sent to me months ago!) and then another one telling me to disregard it...Both were automated form letters...
  10. Hi, Bananas--just a quick FYI, since I'm also waiting on word for CUNY--what's your profile like? Area of interest, educational background, outstanding factors in your app?
  11. A small number of decisions have already been made, but the majority of the applications remain pending. The committee expects to meet once more before spring break (April 2-10)and they are likely to report more decisions to the Graduate Center's admissions office after they meet. When decisions have been reported, notification letters will be sent out by the admissions office. Occasionally, the admissions committee may decide to contact an applicant by email or telephone, but this is not always the case. I hope this information is helpful to you.
  12. Thanks Weber! That's very nice of you. Now, I'm the one sounding pretentious...perhaps that won't affect me in the end anyway... Anyone waiting on CUNY?
  13. I'm getting antsy after a reject from Princeton...What's their usual style of notification? Phone? Email? A kick in the pants?
  14. True--never heard of anyone "asking for status" and being accepted!
