I am in the same boat, waiting to hear something, anything!!! I emailed the GSAS asking for some sort of info. I will let y'all know what I find out.

I emailed the dept a couple of weeks ago, and was told that they were still reviewing files. Apparently though they were going to be done by the end of the first week in March.
  3. How kind of them to acknowledge that they will keep those waiting in limbo.
  4. In line with the topic title, yes, it is finally over - but not in a positive manner!!! I applied to ten schools, rejected from five (BC, Chicago, Georgetown, Princeton and Yale), and I have yet to hear from five (Columbia, Emory, Northeastern, NYU and Pitt). It does not look good for me, and to be honest, I am kinda devastated. I have worked my butt off, strategized, and had success all throughout my academic career, but alas the dream is all but over now. Not to mention I have been applying for all sorts of jobs the past few years, yet nothing had materialized.
  5. Ugh, one or two offers in the African field, and only one possible waitlisted - looks like another rejection for me :-(
  6. To those of you who have been fortunate (and deserving) of your acceptances into the PhD program at NYU - are any of you Africanists? Also, does anyone have any idea how many students the history dept admits (normally)?

This is positive news, thus in the spirit of dumb and dumber I have this to say... "What are the chances of gal like you, and guy like me getting together?" "Oh, about one in a million!" Pause... "YES!!! So you're telling me there's a chance :-)"

I haven't heard a peep either, but assuming no news is bad news :-( Maybe they are getting back at me for rejecting them in 2008?

If you don't mind me asking, what is your field, how were you noitifed, and are you being considered for an university wide fellowship?
  10. Thanks for the info folks - wish it were better news for all of us!!!
  11. Can I just say, this is the worst roller-coaster I have ever been on - no ups but all downs! Wait, poor analogy, that would be a great roller-coaster, right? I don't know anymore, I am losing my mind and hope. Just one acceptance, that is all I ask universe. Otherwise, it is an online PhD for me
  12. I study African history in a global context, and have yet to hear from Boston College, Chicago (though I see someone posted an acceptance in this field), Columbia, Emory, Georgetown, NYU and Pitt. So far, I have been rejected by Princeton and Yale in this field.
  13. Oh, to stay in the spirit of the day and the news, I am off to print off a copy of the rejection and flush it down the toilet. Take that ex of mine!!!
  14. Hey y'all, Yes, happy valentine's day. Yale broke up with me today, so I am off to bed to cry myself to sleep and dream about another but better looking school that may sweep me off my feet
  15. Maybe I will start my own institution and offer you all places. Why? Cause it is Valentine's and I love you all
