  1. 15 April - MPP (includes US $ 750 deposit)
  2. Congrats everyone!! Looking forward to meeting you in August.
  3. Agreed with all the above posters - resitting your GRE is a waste of time. All your scores are better than mine, any concerns they might have with AW will be addressed by your law. I personally think AW is more important for international students where english is a second language.
  4. Financial aid I've tried logging into MYFAID account, but all I can see are Home, Apply Online and Forms tabs. I was expecting the Harvard FInancial Aid packages and fellowships info to come out today 1 April. Can anyone else see their package??
  5. Anybody been interviewing for the fellowships (Zuckerman or Dubin)? I had expected we would hear about fellowships and financial aid on 1 April, but havent heard any movement on interviews. Any intel?
  6. Only thing that may be misleading about looking at post-graduation employment statistics is that often these students were tied to go back to the consulting firm before they started the MPP program. Because the consulting firm is sponsoring the MPP/MPA program. So it may not necessarily be a good indicator that its a feeder university!
  7. Hi guys My tip would be go to a college which is visited by the the consulting firms you're interested in so that probably means a college with a strong business school. For example, Im working at one of the top tier consulting firms in their public sector/government practice, and can tell you that if your talking a top school it doesnt matter which faculty since we send interviewers to campus for a couple of days each year. I'm talking Kellogg, Harvard, Stanford, they're our 'target business schools', we interview students from all Faculties at these campuses (though obviously predominantly receive b-school applicants). I would say this is more/as important as going to a good public policy school.
  8. Post the yay-HKS euphoria... I am now trying to figure out how I would fund this US$85k tuition bill, not to mention living and relocation costs. I saw somebody else post that financial aid decisions will be made on 1 April 2011. Does anybody know about financial aid stats for MPP students at Harvard? How do they assess financial aid? What % of MPP students receive aid? Does it tend to be skewed towards domestic and students from developing countries? Size of aid package? Any information?
  9. Couldn't believe my eyes - I'm in HKS MPP! Can't wait to meet you all. Good luck to those still waiting to hear. I'm sorry to those who haven't had good news, hopefully you'll find a better fit for you at another school. Thanks to everyone in this forum for making the wait more bearable and entertaining. Stats: Asia Pac Internships: UN, policy thinktank, corporate law firm Work: 2.5 year FT work at top tier mgmt consulting firm (public sector practice) GRE: 600 verb, 720 quant, 5.5
  10. Hey David Thrillled to have receive a GSPP offer a couple of weeks back. I'm keen to find out about two things: First, I understand the summer internships are a compulsory part of the two year MPP program. Is it up to the individual to proactively contact organisations they are interested in? Or are the placements setup? How much support/connections does the Faculty/Careers service provide? How strongly does the Berkeley brand name carry if trying to intern at the international organisations in DC (UN, WB)? Second, I've received no financial support with my offer but I'm happy to work. The offer letter highlighted that there were opportunities to do "GSI, GSR, Reader or Tutor positions", they sound great, but I'm get a sense of how hard they are to come by, especially in first year? And how that changes in your second year? Third, how difficult is it to get into a Hass B-school course? I understand the B-School operates on credit like trading system, and I'm concernd as a non-Hass student that you're last choice, which means you get only do the unpopular Hass courses. Care to share experiences on this? Sorry, alot of questions here, and I have more... =) Thanks
  11. Thanks for the research Blingem! So being optimistic - shouldn't be more than 7 sleeps away. I realise that with all the anticipated will also come deep disappointment if its a negative result, so I guess worth preparing for that too.
  12. Agree - I have the same concerns - also the fact the open house email was sent disclosing everyones email addresses is a bit of a faux pas. I havent received any funding from GSPP, and so I'm completely investing in my future, and want to go to a school with a strong careers service. Any current students still floating on these boards? Any views on the careers services and support at GSPP, for both domestic and international jobs??
  13. And then it depends where in the world you are! Not trying to spoil the fun - but it means several of you could be right
  14. Congrats everyone!! Perhaps we will become classmates and friends. Eurohoria - I can't help on the waitlist question. In 2010, 72 people started the MPP, total 662 applications, which works out at 11%. However, of course, the admission rate is higher than this as some people will have not have accepted their GSPP offer. They don't disclose number of offers so its not possible to know the admission stat exactly, but you can guess.
  15. The offer email had a paragraph saying that I hadn't received any fellowships but not to be disappointed because I could apply for a range of tutor programs etc which cover varying amounts of fees from 25-100% depending on number of hours worked. Did you apply for the Javits Political Scholarship separately? I've never heard of it... so I assume I'm not in the running.
