  1. @Dawnbreaker That's a very insightful comment! Do you happen to know much about these places: Wharton OID, Kellogg OM, USC ISE, and CMU Tepper OR/OM. I'm mostly considering the first two. @myh Congratulations on those offers! Stanford MS&E is my ideal place, but I did not make it. ^^"
  2. I have seen a lot of posts on the results page lately. Let's discuss here guys! Seems like Stanford MS&E and Cornell are the big ones that acceptances were started to roll out. First rejection from MIT Social and Engineering Systems program today.
  3. @ORPhDFall16 Good luck to you! I ended up not applying to Cornell and NU IEMS. Although, I did Kellogg instead, plus NYU Stern and UChicago Booth. Have you heard from NU IEMS?
  4. Hi all, I'm applying to multiple PhD programs in OR/IE (and also some OM) for Fall 2016. I haven't seen a topic for these fields yet, so I created one! Would love to get to know other applicants and let's wait for the results together! Programs I applied to: MIT ORC Stanford MS&E Stanford OIT Columbia IEOR Columbia DRO Berkeley IEOR USC ISE Cornell ORIE Northwestern IEMS Wharton OID Stanford OIT Not sure if I'll apply to some more programs like NYU, Chicago Booth, CMU, and UCLA Anderson.
  5. Anything about Stanford MS&E or MIT CDO? Thanks!
  6. I'm really torn now. Any other thoughts/advice?
  7. Hi jhpark! Nice to meet you, too! I like everything about Stanford MS&E, but MIT is slightly better because of the research opportunities (and funding). MIT is good for supply chain/operations management I think, but faculty who work on these topics do not take new students. For your case, I think Columbia is a great school in FE, but I still think MS&E will probably be better than Stats as, although it's broader, you can still focus on Finance/FE applications at MS&E.
  8. I didn't have research experiences back in undergrad, so I would like to spend a year or two working on projects before applying to Ph.D. programs in the future.
  9. Hi all, I got accepted into the Master's programs at - Stanford (Management Science and Engineering) - MIT (Computation for Design and Optimization) - Cornell (ORIE in Financial Engineering) - UMichigan (Industrial and Operations Engineering) My ultimate goal is to go to the Ph.D. program in Operations Research or Operations Management. My current interests are: (1) financial engineering - risk management, credit risk, dynamic pricing (2) om - supply chain, vehicle routing, airline scheduling (3) stochastic optimization (4) machine learning Basically, I'm choosing between Stanford and MIT now; though if you have strong opinions about Cornell/UMich, please share as well. Thanks a lot!

  12. Thanks for your advice! What if I am still not 100% sure on Ph.D., does Stanford have some advantages? I contacted MIT professors that I wanted to work with, but some replied that they did not have available positions. I might have to find one if I don't mind which project I will be working on. Still, I am very indecisive here.
  13. I just got into Stanford MS&E today as well. Now it's between MIT and Stanford. Tough choice. Any thoughts?
  14. Hi, I applied to 9 MS programs in OR/FE/related fields and heard back from a few. Currently, I'm comparing between Columbia MS&E and MIT CDO. Any thoughts? I also created a thread here: Thanks!
  15. Hi, I recently got admitted to two MS programs: Columbia Univerisity - Management Science and Engineering (1.5 years) MIT - Computation for Design and Optimization (2 years) I'm interested in applications of Operations Research in financial engineering, logistics/supply chain, and vehicle routing/transportation systems. My ultimate goal is to continue at the Ph.D. level in the field of Operations Research. I decided to apply to M.S. program first because I did not have much background or experience in research. Any one has any thoughts on these programs? Thanks a lot!
