    UGA

UGA is notorious for sending out their acceptance letters late. I applied a few years ago (got wait-listed) and I don't think I received mine until the first week of April.
  2. I will accept the offer at OU: graduate teaching assistant stipend (even if it's 30% less than what I make now as a M.A. student!) and tuition waived. The only aspect I didn't count on was higher rent...
  3. Anyone excited about their acceptance?
  4. I spent roughly $400: cost of the GRE, applications for 4 schools, and postage.
  5. I took the French translation administered by the department and failed (even though I had four years of French!). Then I took a summer course designed for French reading comprehension and passed that with no problem. However, I'm not looking forward to learning German if I go on for my Ph.D...
  6. Has anyone heard from Rochester yet? I applied to the Visual Culture program and have yet to receive any updates (positive or negative).
  7. Jackson Rushing called me this morning with my acceptance to the OU Ph.D program for Native American Art History! I'm THRILLED!
  8. Hi! I find it great that there's a fellow Nebraskan on here. I graduated with my MA in 2009, and I decided to teach a few yrs before going back. I teach at Doane (in studio), Kaplan-Online (Humanities courses), and I taught art history at CUNE. Now, it looks like I'm going back to school in the Fall! :)

Let me know if you ever want to meet up! Good luck!

  9. Thank you revivalarch and arthistgrad for your replies! I'm finishing my master's at UNL. I did apply to UNM in hopes of working with Szabo and Rochester in hopes of working with Berlo. I have visited the OU campus and I met the faculty. The campus was beautiful!
  10. Lincoln is a great walking town. If you live in the near South neighborhoods (where majority of undergraduate and graduate students live), you have Blockbuster and a grocery store about half a mile away. Plus the University and the heart of downtown are only a mile away. And there's plenty of bike lanes!
  11. 1. Have a nervous breakdown about my future. 1b. Apply for museum work (if there's any available..)
  12. Is anyone currently studying American art or some subfield related to the 19th century? My focus is Native American Art. I'm studying at UNL where I'm finishing my master's thesis "Stealing Horses and Hostile Conflict: the 1833-34 works of Mato-Tope and Sih-Chida". I'm interested in hearing everyone's interests!
  13. Greetings everyone! I'm applying for my Ph.D with a specialization in Native American Art (which instantly narrows my pool of schools, hah) I received a rejection letter from UW-Madison two weeks ago, so I'm assuming they've notified everyone of their acceptance/rejection status by now. I was pretty bummed about Wisconsin because I thought I was a good candidate with a decent GPA, GRE, and published articles. I've also applied to OU, Rochester, and UNM but have yet to hear from any of those schools.
