  1. Job prospects for pharmacy seems better, but I like ph slightly more than pharmacy. I still like both a lot though.
  2. Hey everyone! So I am currently in UofT Occupational Health MPH and might have to choose between that and Waterloo Pharmacy. Which one?!?!
  3. wow. sucks coz i am finishing up at queens... but i never heard of this event.. Pebbles
  4. There ws a Queen's thing yesterday? What was it?
  5. Oh how exciting! I finally found someone in the same stream as me! lol it just seemed like everybody in this forum was into epid or health promotion at uoft. I think I'm still leaning towards uoft for similar reasons as you though; I'm getting ready to send in the acceptance documents and apply for res... hmm I may probably see you in september! (: Pebbles
  6. @Niceguy, yeah feels like toronto has more options :3 and i am from toronto as well. I tried to contact several current students but wasn't successful However, my current supervisor at queens is a public health official and she did suggest a couple of times that she can set me up with practicum in toronto if I stay at queens - so it is quite enticing for me ! This is the other reason why I am considering Queens.. what do you think? Pebbles PS Where are you going next year? (or applid to?)
  7. I am completing a life sciences undergrad here at queens with a research component; i'm still not sure whether to accept Queens MPH program. It is a generalized MPH so it does not specialize into streams like UofT. They have courses that target different areas of PH such as health promotion, health policy, epid, etc.; however I want to see where students go for their practicum, because I feel that UofT students may get better practicum just because of their location. I just want to compare before I accept either. Pebbles
  8. Does anybody know where Queen's MPH students do their practica??? Thanks! Pebbles
  9. In general, UofT acceptances in MPH programs should be out around mid April. I know ppl who applied to epid have gotten acceptances; I applied to OEH and I received my acceptance two weeks ago. For the global health focus, I believe you have to be accepted into MPH first before they reevaluate your portfolio for the concentration. (That is what is currently undertaken for my application). 10. So other than med school after MPH, what does everybody want to do with their MPHs? Pebbles
  11. Does anybody know of anyone that have been in the Occupational and Environmental Health stream of MPH at UofT? It seems like it is quite a small stream at UofT since everybody seems to be mostly in epid or health promotion.... Pebbles
  12. I applied to their occupational and environmental health stream, but I realized it isn't the stream that I wanted after finding out about where graduates usually work afterwards. I'm wondering if I should suck it up and try it since UofT is located nicely in central toronto with plenty of job opportunity and networking opportunity, or if I should accept the Queens MPH which is newer (and may still have leeway for refinement and improvement) program, but contain courses that I ultimately prefer over UofT. ... :S Pebbles
  13. So which one are you picking? Just curious. .. Queens has a very good learning atmosphere. I am speaking from an undergrad's point of view since I'm completing my undergrad right now here at Queens. Of course I don't know much about the MPH either (or I won't be having so much trouble decidingbtwn here and UofT ) I also hear that the head of the MPH program here has a fairly good reputation in the public health arena... but that was only from one source, so not sure how credible that is... Pebbles
  14. that's the thing - I do not really wish to work in occupational public health for the long term - I am more interested in infectious diseases and biological hazards that occur in the workplace and environment in general. I like the generalization of Queens MPH where it deals with many other streams of public health, but I am also not that interested in cancer epidemiology.... @_@ Forgive me if I'm wrong (I lost track of all the posts here lol) , but you got into UofT epid right? I hear that's a really good MPH stream at UofT! congrats Pebbles
  15. Does anyone know anybody who did the queens MPH? I tried contacting various current students, but to no avail :3 Or have heard any good/bad things and limitations about the program?
