  1. I went to one this past fall and at least when I went, it was run entirely by the faculty. At the end, they broke everyone down into smaller groups (5 people or so in each) and you got to talk to several faculty members on a more individual basis which I found really great. There were a lot of opportunities other than that to talk to the faculty as well and they seemed really energetic and happy to be there...that was a big part of why I ended up applying there.
  2. I was notified about 2 weeks ago via e-mail. I applied back in October and was accepted into the re-entry program with an undergrad degree in social work. My GPA is a 3.86, in-major GPA 3.92, GRE scores were V 154, Q 148, W 4.5. I also have 3 semesters of clinical social work experience working in a skilled nursing facility with the population I hope to work with as an SLP. I'm most likely accepting the offer since it was my top choice school. Good luck! Hopefully you hear back soon!
  3. Thank you! I did not expect to hear back this early at all but it is definitely a relief to know I am going somewhere in the fall! I'm pretty set on GW at this point but I would be happy at any of the schools I applied to so I definitely will weigh my options once I hear back from the others. Good luck to you! Waiting is awful so I hope you hear back very, very soon!!
  4. Thanks for the feedback and suggestions, SLP-Allie! I actually just got accepted to GWU's SLP Re-entry program (my top choice) today so I am extremely happy and excited! My stats have improved a bit since that last post but I really think my statement of purpose and letters of recommendation helped me a lot! Good luck to everyone else applying!
  5. My sister graduated from Catholic's MSW program in 2007 and absolutely loved it. Her focus was more on the clinical/micro end of things, but I do know that no matter what your interests are, they have really great connections with a lot of different agencies for field placements. I'm sure that being in the middle of DC will give you a lot of options when it comes to macro practice! If you have any questions about the campus (it's absolutely beautiful) or area let me know...I'm probably going to be applying there as well!
  6. I'm currently a senior BSW student at a high-ranked university in Virginia. I am going to be applying to several MSW programs as well as a few Speech-Language Pathology ones. I am currently planning on applying to George Washington and University of Minnesota-Twin Cities but I am nervous about my application. I have a 3.82 cumulative GPA and a 3.95 in-major GPA, and around a 1220 on the GRE (I took the new one and am still awaiting the official scores). By the time I graduate, I will have had 3 semesters of social work intern experience at a rehabilitation and nursing center, which is the type of facility I would like to someday work at as a Speech Pathologist. I have other work experience with the elderly and will have recommendations from professors as well as my field instructor at my internship and supervisors from the other jobs I have held while going to school and interning. Do you think my stats are good enough to get into these schools?? Any other schools I should look into (I want to stay in the DC/MD/VA area or Minnesota)?
