  1. To all you fine USask folks: Have you all figured out your housing status for the Fall? I'm going to be doing my MPH by distance learning but I will have to be on campus for the two-week Foundations course at the end of August. Wondering if anyone would be willing to put me up for the two-week duration? I'd be happy to pitch in on rent/food costs! Please send me a PM. Thanks
  2. Congrats to all who have decided their next step in life! I personally will be doing my MPH by distance with U Sask... it'll be a little lonely doing distance ed but it's the only option that will work with my work life right now. To the U Sask crew, let's get to know each other and keep in touch even though I won't be on campus with you all! Please send me a PM
  3. To the USask crew: I applied to the distance MPH program and was told the decisions for the distance program would be coming out in late-April. So, when I checked my application status today, the decision said "Dept Recommend". Does this mean the good news that I think it means?! What did it say for you all when you became accepted? Not sure if I should call the department or wait patiently for an email...
  4. and congratulations to all of you who have been accepted and will be starting in the fall! So happy for all of you
  5. Just a quick update: if anyone is still hasn't heard from Waterloo, you are probably placed on a waitlist. I emailed the program and was told it could be anytime between now and mid-June when we would be notified about acceptance/rejection. The agony continues! As for U Sask, not sure if anyone here applied for the distance format, but I was told decisions would not be made until late-April and they are expecting to accept only 10 students to the distance MPH. that's a lot less than I had hoped!
  6. Misgengen, smk17, and mph0000 - I'm with you! Even though I know it'll be another decade til we hear back, I can't help but check and dream about it every night lol. And, misgengen, I guess we should take it as a good sign that we're still waiting for Waterloo since some others have gotten a rejection on Quest.
  7. Hey linten, I'm curious about the Waterloo acceptance (congrats!). Doesn't seem like there were many of us who applied for Waterloo MPH - could you provide anything you might know, e.g. did your status change on the website? I was pretty hopeful for Waterloo but now I'm thinking I might need to change my expectations? And I'd really like to wish everyone else with good news a big warm congratulations!
  8. urgghhhh guys, I just want to know NOW! *whines*
  9. Hey reachystik, thanks for your posts. I've also applied to 3 distance programs so your input was really useful. Cheers!
  10. Hey gorillacake, I ended up emailing both universities and got pretty prompt replies. Sask was kind enough to let me know they did receive my transcript and Alberta said they're behind due to the holidays and the moving of their office locations. In any case, I think we can be at least assured that most likely nothing got lost in the post! And thanks M19!
  11. To those that applied to UAlberta and Sask, maybe you can help me out answer this: Most of our application needs to be directly mailed into the graduate unit via snail mail, but the online access to our application is supposed to show the status of each component (outstanding vs. received). Has anyone actually had these changed to received? I mailed in my transcripts weeks ago and am just wondering if it is just an administrative delay (or they don't update these at all), or if I should be mailing in new copies. Thanks everyone!
  12. Hey guys, Great thread. Let's hope we can generate some more buzz over here. I've applied to: 1. U of Alberta, Health Promotion (distance ed) 2. U of Toronto, Health Promotion 3. U of Waterloo, Sociobehavioural stream (distance) 4. Still debating UBC, U Saskatchewan (distance), and Queen's... I have my BSc from U of T, with a 3.5 in my last 2 years and a cGPA of 3.2. I've been out of undergrad for about 2 years. I have worked at a healthcare admin/regulatory organization and at a community health centre doing health education work. I've also had irrelevant work experience working overseas and as a flight attendant. Not sure if this is enough professional experience considering a lot of these programs want to recruit the really experienced professionals. Good luck to everyone!
