    Does anyone know how stipends work? I understand I will be working 15 hours a week for it but do I get a paycheck or how does it work? I feel so lost!

    Hi guys! I have a question about acceptances. I was accepted into UMASS-Amherst and I feel all sorts of pressure to accept it right away. Is there a time frame in which I have to accept it? It is the first school I have heard back from and it is an amazing offer but I don't want to rush into accepting before I hear back from other schools. I have also been accepted in UNC-Chapel Hill but I won't know about funding on this one for a couple of weeks. Should I call UMASS and ask? Can they resend the funding package?

    Very cool! Your stats are pretty solid so I think all you need to be concerned with is whether these programs see you as a good fit. Faculty members that your research interests align with and such. I am familiar with UT's comm. department and UW-Seattle. What are your research interest and do you have research experience in what you want to study? I think it would help people who want to give you a little insight.

    @Weysh- I called and asked them about this and they said if you haven't been rejected (online) it means you are still being considered. If you speak with them and they tell you something else please let me know! Good luck!!

    ahh! I am going crazy as well! In regards to the Northwestern comments, if we weren't invited to visit is it safe to assume we are rejected? I plan on calling in the morning. ughh this is so torturous.

    Hey guys! I sent my transcripts to USC and uploaded them from LSE. When I talked to USC they said I needed to send them to both but LSE said they received mine as well so I don't think we need to send them to both! This will be week 8 for me since I submitted my app! Hopefully I hear something this week or next! eeep! What schools are you guys from?

    Hey Kphd! I graduated from UCSD with a degree in Communication. Working with several admission committee members I can tell you that the GRE holds little weight. What is the equivalent gpa for our 4.0 scale? The average I believe is in the high 3.7s and above. They put most weight on how you will fit in the department. They look to your SOP where it would be in your best interest to show how you understand the theories we use and how your experience lends itself to your success in our department. Definitely be specific about your research goals, faculty you want to work with (name a couple at least), and ultimate goals. Best of luck!!
