  1. I would go with what you want to do. If you paid the deposit for Columbia, but aren't too worried about losing it - go for NYU. The most important thing is that you make the right choice for yourself, so be secure in your decision.
  2. Torn between UCLA and UW Seattle. And waiting on UT Austin. And everything is so expensive. So, so expensive. But leaning towards Seattle I'm hoping I can get one of the fellowships. Has anyone applied to UW and heard about the fellowships? Congrats to everyone! Good job future social workers!
  3. I agree. I am very hesitant to commit to Hunter for this very reason. I might be able to figure it out if I could count on having a certain amount of financial aid. But if I received less than I expected, it would be a no-go. So sad, because it seems like such a wonderful program otherwise.
  4. True, Hunter is extremely affordable if you qualify for in-state tuition. For non-residents, however, it's about $18,500 a year. Still a good deal, but dicey if you are relying in financial aid for tuition and living expenses.
  5. Ha! I know! That email floored me. It seemed so official. I have not heard back from UT yet either - but I know decisions have been going out. I called the school today and they told me my application was being reviewed (which I knew from the website) and that I should know within the next "couple of weeks". The woman I spoke also said that UT doesn't make its waitlist public, so if I haven't heard back in 2 weeks I should call her and ask in person. So that would probably apply to you as well. Fingers crossed!
  6. Yes, thank you. I also spoke to Mary McGilvary in the scholarships department and she tells me that there is very little money available in the way of scholarships. The school is a very good deal, but still might be out of my range.
  7. Looks like the due date for the deposit is March 20th - at least that's what my letter said.
  8. HI People, I got an email of acceptance from Hunter on Tuesday - and I'm happy! Especially because I haven't heard back from anyone else. For those of you who have also been admitted, I have 2 questions: did you receive any information about financial aid? and did you find out if you were admitted into your concentration of choice? I'm super confused about the financial part! I would deeply appreciate any of your ideas and thoughts. Also,(just so it doesn't seem like I haven't been doing my homework) I should say that I know about the scholarship application and I have filled out my FAFSA
  9. Hi everyone, For those of you who had your Hunter interview recently - any additional thoughts, comments or helpful pointers? I have mine on Friday. Bit nervous. Plus, it is a Skype interview - never had one of those. Any help would be much appreciated!
  10. In my experiece, it has been pretty dificult to get anyone on the phone at Hunter. Perhaps they're swamped? I'm still waiting to hear back as well.
  11. Thanks, mswhopeful2012. We'll see what they say. I will let you know! akaplan: Did you ask them about a virtual interview as well?
  12. Hello Everyone, I have a question for all of the Hunter applicants from out of state: has anyone arranged to have their interview done over Skype? I was invited to interview, but tickets from my city (in Texas) to NY cannot be found for cheaper than $500. I emailed them back and asked them about a Skype interview, but haven't heard back. I hope it's not bad form to ask for this kind of special arrangement. Any thoughts?
