  1. Thank you, everybody! I think I've resigned to the idea that I might need to put down a big chunk of money up front! I didn't know that there was the option of applying to a Guarantor company, m84y. Thanks for letting me know.
  2. Hello! Can someone maybe recommend a good, reliable broker in the city? Also, do you guys recommend talking to several different brokers? Quite clueless here
  3. Hello All, I'm an international student about to start looking for apartments in NYC. I was wondering if someone could share their experiences with landlords. Did you encounter any trouble with landlords requiring some sort of security from international students? My parents would be willing to co-sign the lease if necessary. However, I don't have much time to find an apartment and am hoping to sign the lease on the spot without too much hassle, paperwork etc. Should I bring along any specific documents proving that I can afford the house/that my parents would support me financially? Is it a huge problem that I won't have a SSN or credit history??? Any help would be very appreciated!
  4. A cheap two-bedroom apartment would be around 1500-1600
  5. Does anyone know anything about the terminal MA at Brown? I've been scouring the internet for reviews from students but can't find any. I'm wondering about how Master's students are treated in the department/how big the MA cohort. I don't really have the guts to e-mail the department before I get my admission decision but I'm super curious. Help please!!
  6. Wow! You really have some great options! Good for you! After reading, it seems to me that if Georgetown definitely allows you to defer, you should seriously consider that. Also, try to find out as much as possible about the waitlist you're on--that might help you make a decision. Cheers! P.S: nice username
  7. Hermia, if you don't mind me asking, did you apply for the MA program or the PhD program?
  8. First, I think I'll allow myself a little public outburst: Then--I don't know--a roadtrip maybe? Bonnaroo?
  9. Let us know if you decide to e-mail! I haven't heard from any schools yet (I only applied to MA programs this year) and Brown is the first one I'm expecting. So I'm obsessing a little.
  10. Thanks, Emma. Me too. Starting to get nervous.
  11. from A Happy Death. simple enough: "In this flowering of air, this fertility of the heavens, it seemed as if a man's one duty was to live and be happy." - Albert Camus
  12. Hello everyone, lurker here. I've been checking the results survey for a while and I've noticed that no one has heard from Brown for the Master's program yet... It seems that the past few years admission decisions for MAs have come out at the same time as PhD decisions. Does anyone know anything about this? Also, does anyone know if acceptance into the MA program at Brown is just as horrifyingly competitive as the PhD program? Any feedback would be helpful!!
