  1. Are you planning on working overseas as well, or do you hope to return with a degree from one of those universities and work in the States?
  2. Check out MSFHQ and the programs you're looking at in particular. If you remove MIT and Princeton from the list of FE programs then you have a great chance at any top program for a MSF or MFE. WUSTL/Columbia/Vanderbilt all have basically a mean GRE of 320 and mean GPA of 3.6. You seem to fit the bill for them, and they're right near the pinnacle of MSF programs, You're at the mean for those programs, so you're above for many others. You should have no difficulty finding a top 20 programs. Try checking out Wall Street Oasis. Many people there have direct experience with the programs.
  3. So, my situation is that I'm graduating with a bio-chemistry degree a semester early this December. 3.9/4.0. An 88% Q, 99% A, 70% V GRE score. However, I only have ~15 hours of undergraduate computer science coursework. I'm quite keen on efficiency so I was looking at several Spring start programs that would allow me to finish up some requisite undergraduate work alongside the graduate courses. For example, U-Chicago offers 'Immersion' so I could even test out of said prerequisites. Alternatively, I could stay at my university and take those missing core classes this Spring and have my application in for the Fall start date of many programs. This would open me up to more schools but at the cost of another semester. Is there an obvious better pick among the two choices?
  4. I may be missing something, but I don't fully grasp the translation from an X/20 + X/20 --> X/170. Like, would a quant. of 19/20 + 19/20 always translate to a certain X/170 score, or is it variable? I'm not sure I'm communicating what I want to say in the best way, but hopefully someone understands.
  5. Like others have said, without that critical work experience you won't be of much use to places like HBS or Wharton. What may be possible is pursuing an MSF or MAcc at a one year program. Either of those degrees would broaden your knowledge base in their sectors while allowing you to connect with an alumni network or have OCR opportunities. There are a host of schools with MSF degrees that are becoming more and more comparable to MBA programs, only they are condensed into one year. In the T10 range, they all have excellent placement results, and you may use the MSF as a stepping stone to get to the MBA
  6. I think it depends on what you're trying to do. If you're in a comfortable situation right now and looking for an opportunity to move up in your current company, these programs would be a decent option. If your hope is that the MBA will enhance your resume to pursue positions that are more competitive, they probably aren't for you.
  7. So, I'm going to be graduating this Fall with a Bio-Chem degree accompanied by a CS minor plus additional hours, giving me ~ 35 credits of Comp Sci. studies. I was preparing to send in my app, but am debating what schools I want to apply to. Following the coming semester, my stats will look something like: GPA - 3.9 GRE - 760 Quant - 750 Verbal Approximately 3 years of quantitative biology research. Want NOTHING to do with integrated CS/Ecology systems anymore. For personal reasons, I will most likely need to be in the NYC or Chicago area, depending on where my partner will be attending medical school. I was definitely leaning towards applying to Columbia as a top choice, but I've seen some students claim that Stony Brook is an exceptionally nice school. Are there any other sought-after programs in the NYC area, aside from these and NYU; and are there any comparable programs in Chicago? I would like whatever school I attend to have some on-campus-recruitment opportunities, which is why Columbia seemed like a good choice, but are there any programs notorious for the OCR in either of these areas? Thanks~
