  1. I was recently emailed by masdar and was told that I am on the shortlist for admission. Is that a good thing? And when can I expect to receive the final decision?
  2. Hello! Has anyone applying to MIT IDM R1 heard something back already? Good luck to everybody!
  3. This is precisely what the title suggests. Invite everyone planning to apply for a master's course in the field of Music to share concerns, updates here. And I request everyone already enrolled in such programmes to help us out. @Musicologist I am personally confused between Musicology and Ethnomusicology and want to find out more about Music therapy as a programme. Any disussion around it is much appreciated!
  4. Hello all, I submitted my application on 10/17. I sent my transcripts on 10/20 and was just wondering if anyone knows if I will receive a notification when my application is complete or under faculty review? Thanks in advance!
  5. Hey, I am wondering who else has applied to the MT program at OISE! What concentration did you apply for, what teachable(s), and what did your application look like? I applied to intermediate/senior for biology & social science. I had volunteer experience in a high school and ~4.0 GPA average in my last two years.
  6. It would be good to have a page dedicated to all the students of UMich. Hope we can all gather together here!
  7. I'm sitting here unable to focus on anything waiting for Friday evening to come. Figured I'd start a thread for other anxious applicants out there! So far I've been accepted to GWU, Texas MGPS DC, and Korbel all with varying amounts of funding but SAIS Bologna is my number 1 choice.
  8. Hi everybody, I'm back from my long hiatus and am doing exactly what I did last year: starting the new thread for new applicants right before CSDCAS opens. Hopefully by 2018 I'll have gotten in and won't be here doing this anymore, lol. This thread is for everyone applying for 2017. That includes spring, summer, and fall applicants from any and all countries! Are you guys ready for this round? Who else is applying again that didn't get in before? How's life? etc.
  9. No one seems to have started a thread for this year's IU folks yet, so let me be the one! I'll be starting my PhD in French/Francophone Studies this fall. I haven't actually visited the IU campus and have never even been to the midwest before. I've been living in California since I was ten and did both my undergrad and my master's less than two hours from home. Before that, I lived in Hawaii. Needless to say, the whole concept of having seasons is a bit foreign to me... Anyway, any other IU-bound people here? Which programs are you in, where are you guys from, and where are you guys planning to live in Bloomington? What makes you the most excited, and what makes you the most nervous about starting?
  10. Hey everyone just thought I would start up a thread for any audiology hopefuls applying for the 2017 year! I am applying to UBC and Western this year. I have heard that Western is really difficult to get into. Does anyone know if UBC is any easier?
  11. Hi all! I'm a hopeful applicant for PhD programs for Fall 2017 in social work. Thought I'd start this thread to see who else is in the same boat! A little background: I graduated from UNC's MSW program in 2013 and have been working as an outpatient clinician since this time. I'm EMDR and intensively DBT trained and am licensed in clinical social work and substance abuse and my research interests are primarily in the field of substance abuse and trauma. I'm looking around for schools in the southeast due to some family reasons but am open to other programs that would be a good fit with my interests. Just took the GRE yesterday and got a Verbal: 162 Quant: 152. Pretty mediocre but hopefully acceptable somewhere!! SO far I'm thinking UGA, UNC, VCU, University of Maryland
  12. Hey guys, I thought I may as well start this. International student from Australia going to Stanford for Geological Sciences PhD this fall (2017). I am super excited! Can't wait for a change, a new chapter and to make new friends! Also, what are you guys doing for housing?
  13. Hi everyone! If you have decided to attend Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health in Fall 2017 (like me) then feel free to join the Facebook group I just created so we can connect with each other, ask questions, etc. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1527643387247818/ This group is intended to promote connectivity between students admitted to a Master of Public Health, Master of Science, or Master of Healthcare Administration degree programs at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health beginning in September 2017.
  14. Hello all! Is anyone planning to attend Harding University in the Fall of 2017 for their MA in Speech-Language Pathology program? I officially sent in my deposit a couple weeks ago and just wanted to see if anyone else was out there Hope you are all having an excellent year!!
  15. I thought there might be some benefit in creating a forum where (1) people can post if they are declining an offer, and (2) where people can post where they are wait-listed. Sure, there is no guarantee the wait-listed person will get the spot, but it's still nice to know, right? Or we can put anything related to wait-lists here.
  16. I wanted to make a separate thread for EEB stats b/c the programs tend to be pretty distinctive from gen bio and I'm curious what other people are up to this season! Here's a copy of the same rubric that is used in the other threads Undergrad Institution: (School or type of school, such as big state, lib arts, ivy, technical, foreign (what country?)... Overall Reputation in Biology?) Major(s): Minor(s): GPA in Major: Overall GPA: Position in Class: (No numbers needed, but are you top? near top? average? struggling?) Type of Student: (Domestic/International, male/female, minority?) Any publications (Mth author out of N?) or conference talks etc...) Awards/Honors/Recognitions: (Within your school or outside?) Pertinent Activities or Jobs: (Such as tutor, TA, SPS officer etc...) Any Miscellaneous Accomplishments that Might Help: Special Bonus Points: (Such as connections, grad classes, famous recommenders, female or minority status etc...) 17. Hey all! I really wanted to start an acceptance thread for a while, but I waited! Hopefully, it's around a good time right now to start one. I wanted to ask all of you macro/micro biologists on this site about what programs you'll be attending starting this fall. Starting with me: I'm attending USC's MBBO program~! I'm going to be a Marine Biologist. Where are you all attending and what program? Or what two schools are you deciding between?
  18. Hey everyone, I'm entering UCLA DESMA this Fall 17 and I'm just doing a roll call. It would be soooo nice to have some friends already by the time I move. Feel free to write here and PM me, Also I'll be looking for a roommate soon pref in arts. Congrats everyone!
  19. I didn't see a thread for USC, so I'll go ahead and start it! I'll be joining the Earth Science department in the Fall. Where are people planning to live? I'm considering Palms/Culver City since it's so close to the light rail.
  20. Hello M. Arch Applicants, I applied to 7 universities in Canada for Master's of Architecture for Fall 2017 and I have been rejected by 5 universities. My university is unaccredited and my grades are average. My question is should I lose hope and resort to looking for summer architecture internships and try again next year? This forum and admitted list is causing me more stress than before and I need advice and closure. ( I know I need to not look at the result list but it gives me a good idea who I am up against.) I want to know your applicant situations whether it's positive or negative and advise for what is the best way to move forward. Waitlist: U of Manitoba Rejected: Calgary, U of T, Ryerson, McGill and UBC Still waiting for offer: Carleton, Dalhousie
  21. Hello! After a long year of applications I've accepted my offer for a PhD in Epidemiology at JHSPH. Haven't found a forum anywhere for accepted/attending JHSPH PhD students to interact. Please feel free to start the conversation or reach out privately if you'd like to speak more. I did have one question- I couldn't attend the admitted students day today, anyone who went willing to share their thoughts? Thanks
  22. I am very happy to be going to UC's program in the fall and I'm looking for anyone else who got in. I started a Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/1511347992243552/ ) and I'm hoping to get to talk to some of you here soon!
  23. Anyone apply to the masters of child study and education of masters of teaching?
  24. Hi everyone! I have not seen very many posts about HDS generally, and none in this part of the forum. I am officially going to accept HDS' offer next week and thought it would be awesome to start a conversation with other prospective students. How is everyone? Are you as excited to move to Cambridge and study with exceptional profs in an exceptional community????!!! What are you excited about? Afraid of?
  25. Hi everyone! I haven't seen any love around these forums for people with interests in perception, cognition, vision, attention, memory, etc etc etc. Thought I'd get one going! I've applied to Berkeley, Davis, San Diego, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, U of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Brandeis, NYU, Tufts, and U of Delaware. Been quite a journey. I'm so pumped that the applications are finally out of my hands, and I've made a number of good connections with POIs, but I'm not looking forward to the wait to hear back!
