  1. It would be good to have a page dedicated to all the students of UMich. Hope we can all gather together here!
  2. I was recently emailed by masdar and was told that I am on the shortlist for admission. Is that a good thing? And when can I expect to receive the final decision?
  3. Hey, I am wondering who else has applied to the MT program at OISE! What concentration did you apply for, what teachable(s), and what did your application look like? I applied to intermediate/senior for biology & social science. I had volunteer experience in a high school and ~4.0 GPA average in my last two years.
  4. Hi, I'm a class of 2017 grad from UIUC's CS program. What type of schools would be a good fit for a MS in CS or Math or Stats? 3.00/4.00 GPA 170 Verbal 170 Quant 5 Writing - Internship at one of [Google, Apple, Facebook] - Full-time job in algorithmic trading starting soon at one of [Citadel, Jump Trading, Optiver] - 3 years of research done within U of I in the CS department, and at the NCSA (National Center for Supercomputing Applications) in HPC. I have one strong letter of rec I can get from a UIUC CS professor, and I could get more from my other research positions at school, but none that I feel were that great. What tier of schools should I be applying to for my MS? Open to and interested in CS, Applied Math, or Stats. May be able to join the professor I was doing research with at UIUC as a MS student in CS. Really quite interested in programming languages and compilers as a research topic - something U of I is very strong in. My strong letter of rec is from a UIUC compilers research professor. Thanks!
  5. Anybody joining OSU this fall?

  8. Hi I wanted to get an idea from people who are also applying to Masters in Analytics programs in US for courses starting in Fall of 2107. I know it is a bit early and most applications have just started but I wanted to understand what kind of colleges I could target considering my profile which I detailing below Undergrad Institution: Middle of the pack Engineering College (India) Major(s): Electronics and Communication Minor(s): GPA in Major: 4 Overall GPA: 3.4 Position in Class: Top Type of Student: International - female Grad: MBA in HR - one of top 5 B Schools in India, Class Rank: Top 5, GPA: 3.9 GRE Scores (revised/old version): Q: 165 V: 165 AWA: 4.5 TOEFL Total: 115 Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Have close to 10 years of experience in Retail process improvement and Management Consulting My top choices for schools are: Columbia: MS Applied Analytics UChicago: MS Analytics University of Texas Austin: Masters Analytics Univ of Southern California : MS Business Analytics Purdue Univ: MS Analytics Northwestern: MS Analytics If someone could help me out with the following: 1. Am I Ok to target these colleges or are they too much of a 'reach' for my profile? Please suggest some other colleges where I will have a better chance of getting admission 2. I am 35 years old, mid-career professional, will that be a disadvantage for me as median age for most of these programs is 25-28yrs and median work ex is 2.5 - 4 years. For instance Duke Univ has clearly mentioned that their program would not be a good fit for me. Thanks
  9. Hello all, I submitted my application on 10/17. I sent my transcripts on 10/20 and was just wondering if anyone knows if I will receive a notification when my application is complete or under faculty review? Thanks in advance!
  10. Hey all! I really wanted to start an acceptance thread for a while, but I waited! Hopefully, it's around a good time right now to start one. I wanted to ask all of you macro/micro biologists on this site about what programs you'll be attending starting this fall. Starting with me: I'm attending USC's MBBO program~! I'm going to be a Marine Biologist. Where are you all attending and what program? Or what two schools are you deciding between?
  11. Hey guys, I thought I may as well start this. International student from Australia going to Stanford for Geological Sciences PhD this fall (2017). I am super excited! Can't wait for a change, a new chapter and to make new friends! Also, what are you guys doing for housing?
  12. I'm sitting here unable to focus on anything waiting for Friday evening to come. Figured I'd start a thread for other anxious applicants out there! So far I've been accepted to GWU, Texas MGPS DC, and Korbel all with varying amounts of funding but SAIS Bologna is my number 1 choice.
  13. Hello all! I'm looking for fellow Quantitative Psychology PhD applicants (so what- like 30 people :D). I thought it would be cool to make a thread and maybe get in contact with some other people going through a similar application process. Personally I am in a Master's program right now surrounded by Clinical Psychology applicants. There must be someone out there like me! Current quantitative psychology people are welcome to drop by and impart their wisdom as well. EDIT: Found a thread for this year. There must be some out there somewhere!
  14. Hi everybody, I'm back from my long hiatus and am doing exactly what I did last year: starting the new thread for new applicants right before CSDCAS opens. Hopefully by 2018 I'll have gotten in and won't be here doing this anymore, lol. This thread is for everyone applying for 2017. That includes spring, summer, and fall applicants from any and all countries! Are you guys ready for this round? Who else is applying again that didn't get in before? How's life? etc.
  15. This is precisely what the title suggests. Invite everyone planning to apply for a master's course in the field of Music to share concerns, updates here. And I request everyone already enrolled in such programmes to help us out. @Musicologist I am personally confused between Musicology and Ethnomusicology and want to find out more about Music therapy as a programme. Any disussion around it is much appreciated!
  16. No one seems to have started a thread for this year's IU folks yet, so let me be the one! I'll be starting my PhD in French/Francophone Studies this fall. I haven't actually visited the IU campus and have never even been to the midwest before. I've been living in California since I was ten and did both my undergrad and my master's less than two hours from home. Before that, I lived in Hawaii. Needless to say, the whole concept of having seasons is a bit foreign to me... Anyway, any other IU-bound people here? Which programs are you in, where are you guys from, and where are you guys planning to live in Bloomington? What makes you the most excited, and what makes you the most nervous about starting?
  17. Hey everyone just thought I would start up a thread for any audiology hopefuls applying for the 2017 year! I am applying to UBC and Western this year. I have heard that Western is really difficult to get into. Does anyone know if UBC is any easier?
  18. Hi all! I'm a hopeful applicant for PhD programs for Fall 2017 in social work. Thought I'd start this thread to see who else is in the same boat! A little background: I graduated from UNC's MSW program in 2013 and have been working as an outpatient clinician since this time. I'm EMDR and intensively DBT trained and am licensed in clinical social work and substance abuse and my research interests are primarily in the field of substance abuse and trauma. I'm looking around for schools in the southeast due to some family reasons but am open to other programs that would be a good fit with my interests. Just took the GRE yesterday and got a Verbal: 162 Quant: 152. Pretty mediocre but hopefully acceptable somewhere!! SO far I'm thinking UGA, UNC, VCU, University of Maryland
  19. Hi everyone! If you have decided to attend Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health in Fall 2017 (like me) then feel free to join the Facebook group I just created so we can connect with each other, ask questions, etc. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1527643387247818/ This group is intended to promote connectivity between students admitted to a Master of Public Health, Master of Science, or Master of Healthcare Administration degree programs at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health beginning in September 2017.
  20. Hello all! Is anyone planning to attend Harding University in the Fall of 2017 for their MA in Speech-Language Pathology program? I officially sent in my deposit a couple weeks ago and just wanted to see if anyone else was out there Hope you are all having an excellent year!!
  21. I thought there might be some benefit in creating a forum where (1) people can post if they are declining an offer, and (2) where people can post where they are wait-listed. Sure, there is no guarantee the wait-listed person will get the spot, but it's still nice to know, right? Or we can put anything related to wait-lists here.
  22. I wanted to make a separate thread for EEB stats b/c the programs tend to be pretty distinctive from gen bio and I'm curious what other people are up to this season! Here's a copy of the same rubric that is used in the other threads Undergrad Institution: (School or type of school, such as big state, lib arts, ivy, technical, foreign (what country?)... Overall Reputation in Biology?) Major(s): Minor(s): GPA in Major: Overall GPA: Position in Class: (No numbers needed, but are you top? near top? average? struggling?) Type of Student: (Domestic/International, male/female, minority?) GRE Scores (revised/old version): Q: V: W: B: TOEFL Total: (if applicable, otherwise delete this) Research Experience: (At your school or elsewhere? What field? How much time? Any publications (Mth author out of N?) or conference talks etc...) Awards/Honors/Recognitions: (Within your school or outside?) Pertinent Activities or Jobs: (Such as tutor, TA, SPS officer etc...) Any Miscellaneous Accomplishments that Might Help: Special Bonus Points: (Such as connections, grad classes, famous recommenders, female or minority status etc...) Any Other Info That Shows Up On Your App and Might Matter: Applying to Where: School - Department - Research Interest School - Department - Research Interest School - Department - Research Interest 2

  24. I didn't see a thread for USC, so I'll go ahead and start it! I'll be joining the Earth Science department in the Fall. Where are people planning to live? I'm considering Palms/Culver City since it's so close to the light rail.
  25. Hello M. Arch Applicants, I applied to 7 universities in Canada for Master's of Architecture for Fall 2017 and I have been rejected by 5 universities. My university is unaccredited and my grades are average. My question is should I lose hope and resort to looking for summer architecture internships and try again next year? This forum and admitted list is causing me more stress than before and I need advice and closure. ( I know I need to not look at the result list but it gives me a good idea who I am up against.) I want to know your applicant situations whether it's positive or negative and advise for what is the best way to move forward. Waitlist: U of Manitoba Rejected: Calgary, U of T, Ryerson, McGill and UBC Still waiting for offer: Carleton, Dalhousie
