  1. Hi all! Just thought I'd start this thread. Where all are you applying? How's the GRE coming along? SoP...? Writing samples? Let's commiserate. I'll start. B.A. (top-ranking public school on the East coast) and M.A. (well-ranked, medium sized public school on the West coast) in art history. GRE registered for end-July. Currently working on my SoPs. Writing sample in my area, but needs much work/editing to be a self contained 20-page essay, as is customary for most programs. Schools shortlisted: University of California, Berkeley, University of Minnesota, University of Chicago, New York University's Institute of Fine Arts, Columbia University, City University of New York's The Graduate Centre, Harvard University, and Johns Hopkins University. Area: Early Modern Europe Here's to another season of applications. May the odds be ever in your favour!
  2. Hi all! I was recently accepted into a Clinical Psychology PhD program. I enjoyed everything about the interview days (even meeting the other applicants) and had that really great gut feeling about the program afterwards. Research-wise, it's what I want to do and the POI seems great. I've heard all good things from students. Other faculty research is also interesting and there's potential for collaboration. Now, however, I have received the verbal offer and reality is sinking in. There may be some GA/TA opportunities down the line, but nothing guaranteed. My POI is seeking grants but again nothing official. I would have to pay tuition; pretty minimal but typically this is waived for PhD programs.. and then there's cost of living. Which won't be too bad because it's a small town, but obviously the fees will eventually pile up as I have to pay tuition + have no stipend + probably won't be able to make outside money if I want to keep sane. I'm wait-listed from other schools with better funding. If this is my only choice.. do I accept? Thoughts? What would others do? Has anyone been in this boat before and how has it worked out?
  3. Hey guys I thought it would be good to start a thread for people applying for genetic counseling school for Fall 2017. I am starting to prepare for the GRE and the supplemental materials of the application since I will be in the midst of finals when applications are due. I would love to talk to more people about genetic counseling school who are also applying or have applied previously. I am just now getting a list of programs that I want to apply to, which includes: Northwestern University, Emory University, University of South Carolina, Stanford University, CSU Stanislaus, Boston University, University of Michigan, and UT Houston.
  4. Post your current status and any questions or comments here! Interview dates on 1/27, 2/17. 3/11 My interview was on 1/27 and I am currently on committee hold.
  5. I got admitted, looking for future fellow students from mainland China.
  6. Hi everybody, I'm back from my long hiatus and am doing exactly what I did last year: starting the new thread for new applicants right before CSDCAS opens. Hopefully by 2018 I'll have gotten in and won't be here doing this anymore, lol. This thread is for everyone applying for 2017. That includes spring, summer, and fall applicants from any and all countries! Are you guys ready for this round? Who else is applying again that didn't get in before? How's life? etc.
  7. Hey everyone! I've seen a whole bunch of area and school specific posts and decided to go ahead and start one for Boston so we can all keep each other updated. I applied to Simmons, Boston College and Smith (which is a ways outside of Boston but I figured I'd give it a mention anyway). Simmons sent me an email that they made a decision and placed it in the mail on Friday. All of this waiting is driving me nuts!

  9. Hi everyone, I figured I'd start the Fall 2017 thread to see where everyone's thinking about applying to, and so we can share some helpful tip and what not. For now, I'm applying to Temple's MSW and West Chester University's MSW program for the sheer fact that they're local programs (and super affordable). Where is everyone else looking?
  10. Haven't seen a thread for the 2017 cycle so I thought I'd initiate one here. Anyone in the process of applying? I have just submitted my application to UBC and am currently working on ones for U of T, McGill, York, Calgary, Alberta and possibly Queens/Victoria. Here are my stats: Undergrad GPA: 3.6/4.33 (3.88 in last 2 years) MA (International Studies- Course Based): 3.55/4.33 MA (Political Science): 4.0/4.0 Scholarships: 5 in second MA (including SSHRC); 2 in first MA and and 3 in BA Other Awards: Rhodes Finalist, Dean's Honor Call, Best Poster Presentation Award Publications: Three published, one of them is single author; 3 submitted Conferences: Presented at two academic conferences Research: Worked as an RA in 2 semesters Enthusiastic reference letters I would appreciate any comments/evaluations? UBC is my first choice but the profs that work in my area aren't taking on PhD students so I'm not sure about what my chances are. Of course would be happy to have an offer from Toronto and McGill as well. Where is everyone else applying to?
  11. Hello everyone, Thought I would make a group for those applying to Master of Health Informatics at University of Toronto for Fall 2017. Perhaps we can keep each other updated regarding interviews, acceptances, etc. Other health informatics programs at other universities are welcome too! Good luck!
  12. Hey - has anyone heard from Brandeis' NEJS department yet? I applied for a PhD in NEJS for Fall 2017.
  13. Hey Everyone, I got a lot out of the "MPH Fall 2016" thread figured I'd start a new one. I just got accepted to McGill's Public Health program, trying to decide between McGill and Ottawa (Epidemiology).
  14. Hi everyone! I've been quietly scouring this site for the last couple years, actually, and now that I've officially applied for the Fall 2017 cycle, I figured I'd start this thread up! Especially since I haven't seen a similar thread for this cycle yet. I applied to 7 Ph.D. programs: - Boston College - NYU - Penn State - Rutgers - UChicago - University of Maryland - USC ... And 1 Master's program (the concentration was in an area my research interests are related to) at Teacher's College. Feel free to divulge whatever details you'd like to share here! And once interview rounds start approaching and decisions start pouring in, questions and other related things are more than welcome!
  15. Hello! I just graduated undergrad with a 3.70 and am taking a year off to work and study for the GRE. Has anyone been accepted to NJ or PA schools with a GPA similar to mine? What advice can you give me? I am hopefully getting a job at a rehab assistant and have a decent amount of volunteer work. Please help a fellow speechie out!
  16. This thread is for hopeful applicants wishing for admission into UCLAs MSW program for Fall 2017 or Fall 2018. Please provide your stats, update progress, and be supportive.
  17. I suppose we all finished submitting our applications and wait for some news. Let's talk about our issues and developments of applications. I'm waiting for 2 universities (UVic and USask) and applied for MPA.
  18. I applied in January to UIC. I have seen threads from years past that said UIC was notorious for having a long delay in getting back to applicants. This is the only school I applied to (want to stay in Chicago, did private undergrad at Loyola, can't afford private masters) and I just wanted to know if anyone else had been accepted and how long it took?
  19. In Tracking my application in Illinois Tech for PhD in Chemical Engineering, it shows decision: denied to applied(Check your email and other applications section for more information). In other application section they added masters in chemical engineering and status complete. What does it really mean? Does it mean i was denied for PhD and may be considered for Masters. And they have not mailed me yet.Has anyone faced similar situation? Please let me know.
  20. Dear Fellow Grad School Aspirants, I recently applied for the International Education related Courses at 4 universities. I just heard back from George Washington Univerity of my acceptance and a 20,000$ scholarship but I am still waiting on the Endowment results. I am also waiting to hear back from 3 others- UPenn, HGSE, and NYU. Has anyone else applied to the same and is awaiting for the results. Let's shake off that nervous energy together! Please share your thoughts.
  21. Hello! We've got a thread for all of Anthropology, but how about all you Archaeology-specific applicants? Who are you? What do you study? Where are you applying? Have you heard back from anyone? Nervously twiddling your thumbs? Gather 'round!
  22. Hello all, First of all, best of luck to everyone applying this cycle! Just wanted to start this to hear updates from everyone since it doesn't seem like it has already been started. I have applied to the following (all DrPH); University of Colorado - EOH Georgia Southern - Leadership Tufts - Public Health Generalist University at Albany - EOH University of Georgia - Public Health Generalist University of Kentucky - Health Management and Policy University of Pittsburg - EOH University of Arkansas - Leadership Heard back from two so far, no decision, though. University of Georgia (UGA): (January 19th) Supplementary Essay Request: “What leadership and management abilities do you hope to gain from the DrPH program to strengthen or reinforce the context of your work?” (Up to 500 words) The Georgia Southern University: (January 25th) "The Jiann Ping Hsu College of Public Health (JPHCOPH) has forwarded the recommended admission decision to the Georgia Southern University College of Graduate Studies." Whatever that means......
  23. Hi everyone! So, who's applying for Maths PhDs? Which general field of interest, backgrounds...introduce yourselves!
  24. So I just submitted my Adelphi application online (not through CSDCAs). I know they have an application fee of $50 which I paid for but there's also an event payment that's $50. Does anyone know what this fee is for and if it is absolutely necessary to pay it? Everything on the application checklist is checked off so I don't wanna waste $50 after spending an insane amount of money on applications. I have attached a screen shot of it for reference. I've tried looking it up and nothing.
  25. Has anyone else on here applied for the SSA PhD program at University of Chicago? Has anyone heard back yet?
