Hi! I'm an out-of-field SLP applicant and I'm having a tough time deciding between schools. I've been accepted to both UVA and Syracuse University and I keep wobbling between them. They're both really great programs (as far as I can tell) and both would mean myself and my husband moving from the DC area, but we're prepared for that. I'm wondering if anyone could shed light on what being in either program would actually be like, or if anyone has been accepted to one or both schools and why they did or did not accept them. Also - I've been out of school for several years, so any advice from folks who went back to school after a period of time would be very welcome
Hi all, Thanks in advance for your input. I could really use it! I've been accepted to the following schools for the Master of Public Policy. I intend to study education policy. UVA (with sizable scholarship) Berkeley (no scholarship) Columbia (1/4 scholarship) Duke (about 1/2 scholarship) UChicago (about 1/4 scholarship, but could change) Michigan (about 1/3 scholarship, but could change) Carnegie Mellon (about 3/4 scholarship) Vanderbilt (very small scholarship) I was also waitlisted at HKS. Because of financial concerns, I'm prioritizing UVA, Duke, UChicago, Michigan, and Carnegie Mellon. However, Berkeley's got such a wonderful reputation... What are your thoughts?
FailedScientist posted a topic in BiologyAnyone in any of the biology/biomedical graduate programs at these universities or with any insight about these institutes? I am an international so it's hard to know how these schools are viewed in the US. Rankings-wise they all seem to be mid-tier, with decent reputations. Any other insights on biotech industry and living standards in the surrounding areas would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance.
I'm a prospective applicant to the PhD program in the Department of Political Science at UVa. My focus is in the IPE arena, and I'm interested in working with Herman Schwartz or Sonal Pandya. I'd like to hear from a current student or recent graduate of the program about funding opportunities, RA, TA, and fellowship opportunities within the Department, student engagement with faculty, and perceptions of faculty overall. Is the general feeling that PhD students are well supported throughout their time at UVa? Side-comments about living in Charlottesville are also appreciated! Please feel free to PM me if preferred.
Hey guys, thought I'd start an official thread for everyone who's been accepted to UVA's program for Fall 2016 since unofficial acceptances came out tonight! Congrats to everyone! Does anyone know if there's a facebook page yet?
