Already signed the contract at Northwood V. Heard it is nicknamed "The Northwood Kindergarten" due to the abundance of kids. Hope to come out alive.

Hey Everyone,

I'm starting the Master of Urban Planning program at UM this fall and am, like a lot of people on here, searching for a good housing situation, but having to do it remotely since I'm in Philadelphia until August.  I'm pretty familiar with Ann Arbor but wanted to throw a few grad questions out to this forum and also see if any other incoming grad students were interested in looking for a place together.  If so, feel free to message me here, or directly on facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/colin.brown.54738943

General Questions:

- I am looking for somewhere close to central campus where I can walk to diag in winter; I'm willing to be more surrounded by undergrad life than I'd ideally like in order to be closer to campus.  Kerrytown and downtown are where I've searched the most, but if anyone thinks other areas are good for grads I'd be interested to know.

- I'm looking at splitting a house with a few other grads or just getting a room in one of the apartment complexes.  Does anyone have thoughts on if grads live in some of the apartment complexes near campus (e.g. ZaragonWest, Sterling411, Foundry, Varsity, ArborBlu, Landmark, etc.)?  The prices I've seen for these places are more than I wanted to spend, but I wonder if it's worth it to save on utilities during the winter.

- If anyone has suggestions for reputable property management groups for houses/apartments, that would be really helpful.

Thanks

Just wanted to ask if anyone's heard back from Munger yet? I applied pretty much on April 15th, and I haven't received any notification about my application since. At this point, I'm gonna start looking for apartments by myself, but I wanted to check if anyone else has heard back from them yet.

@veryexcited So I heard from an incoming grad student that he received an email from housing saying that he was rejected from the housing pool. (?) He said that I shouldn't worry because I haven't heard back yet. (?)

Also, an important thing to mention is that I called housing almost two weeks ago and they said that [1] they were getting returning students and June movers situated first before moving onto the August movers and [2] that I didn't screw myself over by signing up for the later move-in date.

I would highly suggest calling because it helped ease my soul a bit. And please share if you do call!

Hey guys.

I also applied for the August intake, and e-mailed housing last week asking "I got nothing does that mean I'm out".

They said that (1) they have recently sent out decisions for people with a June 1st move in date and that (2) they anticipate August 1st move in date decisions out by the end of May.  Also, they emphasized that (3) not having heard back yet does not indicate that you will not be awarded a spot.

Fingers crossed...
