No Letter(s) from CSULA or CSULB

Hi everyone,

I submitted applications for CSULA, CSULB and CSUDH in January.

The things from CSULA that I have right now are emails confirming that the university has received my application, letters regarding financial aid as well as information on how to log in the student center. I called the department and once a man said that since my application was submitted in January that I should hear back sometime in May. However, I called a separate time and a lady informed me that I should hear back later this month or early next month. I keep checking the website on any status changes but so far no luck.

CSULB has sent me emails saying that my application is under departmental review and information about financial aid. I was hoping I could access MyCSULB but I checked the website and apparently it is only accessible by those who have already been admitted. Correct me if I am wrong. I have been checking the application status hotline every day and each time I receive a message that says that my application is still under "departmental review." I contacted the deparment office and they said that it takes 8 to 15 weeks for an admission decision.

I received a waitlist notification from Dominguez Hills on March 11th and have not heard from them since.

I am incredibly worried. Any ideas on what I should do? I guess I should look on the bright side: no rejection letters.

Hi there - My application was in around February 5th or so and I just got an acceptance letter from CSULA in the mail today. My status online hasn't changed at all so I was a little surprised to get the letter. They're giving me until the 27th to reply.

Hi Lalina,

Do you think I still have a chance even though it's been this long? I called the department and they said I should find out by the end of this month. I really hope I get in.

Hi Eileen,

I wouldn't give up hope at this point. We're barely at mid-April so there's still time to hear back. Normally I would recommend you call the program to see if they can give you an idea of what's going on but I've been pretty underwhelmed with CSULA's communication. I called a few times during the application process and got different answers to the same questions. I don't know if this is typical of the program or if they're just overwhelmed with the number of apps they received this year. I hope you hear back soon with some good news, though!

Hi!

Following your application, how long did it take for you to receive your waitlist notification?

Have you heard back from CSULB yet?

I still haven't heard back from CSULB. I called yesterday and they told me that it is still under review. It's been 13 weeks and they said it could take as long as 15 weeks to receive a reply.

I applied to CSULB in mid-January and heard back from the department by mid-February...then received the official letter towards the end of March. From what I understand from LB during their info session, they place their applicants in three categories - accepted, not accepted, or pending. Pending category folks will then have to wait it out longer to know whether or not they're accepted...maybe in part due to the number of people who actually accept their offer of admission as time goes on.

Good luck though! I hope you hear back soon. =)

Considering that it has taken this long, do you think that I still have a chance? I figured that if they flat-out rejected me I would have heard from them sooner.

I'm relatively new with Gradcafe and caught this forum. I, too, am waiting to hear back from CSULB MSW program. I applied to CSUF and CSULB. I'm currently waitlisted at Fullerton and in the top 10 of the list; however, not sure if I will be getting in from the waitlist. I applied to Long Beach in late Februrary and received and e-mail stating my status was under review mid April. I am in the same situation in re to the waiting. It has been a total of 10 weeks since I applied and 6 weeks since I received that e-mail. It's very stressful, but I'm finally deciding to just wait patiently rather than running to my mail box every day and getting disappointed that the letter is not there. sad.gif We just have to stay hopeful. I hope you hear back soon to let us know the status. I have finals this week and graduating Saturday. I just hope I hear good news prior to the weekend or soon after. Good luck!!!! smile.gif

Just hang in there...don't lose hope. Seems like most programs are slow this year in getting out decisions. I went to the orientation for CSULB this past weekend and was told that they had over 700 applicants applied to CSULB this year.

WOW 700! That is amazing... I hope the MSW field does not become over-saturated.
