Hello,

Could you please help me to understand the difference between PhD in Operational Management and Operations Research?

Particularly, related to job perspectives and overall reputation?

Thanx!

Don't know too much about this, but I believe usually Operations Management is affiliated with business schools, so a PhD in Operations Management gives you a slightly greater advantage (all other things equal) if you are applying for a business school position in academia.

hi all

I applied for only 1 ISE program i.e Uni of Florida (MS) and got admitted. They are giving me partial tuition waiver.

My profile

Undergrad degree: EE

GPA: 3.6/4

GRE: 1420 V:640 Q: 780

2 years work experience with multinational company

What do you guys think of Uni of Florida ISE program? Their ISE is at par with Cornell & texas A&M (US news 2012 ranking).

I haven't applied in other programs but got good response from Penn state pre-application evaluation.

Plus generally there is no scholarship for master students. And in the rankings of top IE schools 80% schools are private with hefty fees. But now i am thinking to apply again for spring 2013 session in top schools like north western, columbia, virgina and penn state. Any advice on this?

thanks

Hi, guys

I want to apply IEOR in 13fall, just a MS degree.

here is my background

Major: EE frm Chinese top15 engineering university

GPA:3.2/4.0

GRE:V(53%) Q(94%) A(11%)

TOEFL:97(Speaking:23)

Letter: very normal but one professor may recommend me to UW.

here is my list, anyone could give me some advice:)) Thank you~^^~

Gatech(just for fun:P)

UW seattle (perfect location!)

UW-Madison (good rank but location is so so)

TAMU(tuition is cheap&famous engineering school)

VT

USC( so many ADs every year...good networking....but expensive)

NCSU

Another question is, how do you think between UW seattle and UW-madison?

UW seattle has a very good location with many famous companies but the program seems not very famous. BTW, awesome climate(I love somewhere not too cold and not too warm)

UW-Madison has a good rank but the location and climate is a little bit tough.

My aim is to finish my MS and work several years in US., then back to hometown, so employment rate is important for me when make a choice....

So ,guys, just say your idea :D
