Cuando recibi el email de UPENN estaba muy contenta, pero es una pena no poder participar alli. Todavia no les he respondido, pero espero que no haya desventajas. En mi pais, solo quince universidades tienen el departamento de Lengua y Literatura espanola a pesar de haber 126 universidades en total(por pequeno que sea Corea). Mi area de interes es generalmente el feminismo, sexualidad y genero de la narrativa america latina. ninasiesta Posted February 4, 2009 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Hola tod@s! Acabo de terminar la llamada con un profesor de Pittsburgh. Estaba nerviosa pero no era nada complicada y el prof era muy amable. Despues de saludar me ha preguntado cual he preferido entre ingles y espanol y he elegido espanol. Primero me ha felicitado y explicado sobre admision -cuantos candidatos tenian y eso- y hablaba de las ventajas de su departamento. Luego me daba oportunidad de preguntar cualquier cosa, asi que le he preguntado sobre la ayuda financiera, proyectos etc. Luego cambiamos al ingles(me lo ha pedido diciendo que hay que reportar al departamento jaja) y me preguntaron desde cuando me interesaba en mi campo y cuantos anos estudiaba ingles y espanol. From my brief research (es decir, google) I was expecting questions like, "What would/could you contribute to your field?" / "What are your strengths and weaknesses?" / "Why should we pick you over other candidates?" and other such things. Seriously! Could you imagine having to answer that on the spot? I'm just going to prepare for the worst (and by that I mean most intrusive and demanding) case scenario, and then hopefully the real thing won't live up to my expectations. Las preguntas que has encontrado en google tambien preparaba Suerte! Hola acceptedwannabe, No se todavia estas mirando este foro, es que decidi irme a Upenn interview weekend! La proxima semana se supone que llegan los resultados de varias Universidades, entre ellas Cornell, Yale, Brown y otras (por lo menos eso es lo que indican las fechas de publicacion de los resultados del ano pasado). Que emocion y que angustia! ejejejej, welcome to "Hellweek applications 2009"... buena suerte a todos!!! Niniasiesta, nos vemos en UPenn!! Me da mucha alegria que puedas ir, que bueno que hayas conseguido tu tiquete de descuento. Pero una cosa positiva - fui aceptada a Boston College con beca de Teaching Fellowship. Todavia la admision no es oficial; me falta la carta oficial. They said that the admissions committee was impressed, but they had very few scholarships for int'l students (I'm one). So I am waiting upon a decision from the College of Humanities. I also got a rejection letter from Stanford, which made me even more stressed out. I keep checking my mail/e-mail a thousand times a day... Ufff... Good luck, everyone! I keep getting letters from their financial aid office and it's driving me crazy because I keep thinking it's something important. Stanford was a heart-breaker. I actually had a chance to visit the campus so it was that much more devastating to receive the letter. Sigh. Also got a rejection letter from Johns Hopkins yesterday (2/25).
