Does anyone one know when applicants will be contacted regarding interviews and when interviews are going to be held?

I was contacted for an interview last week but it was for an MA OISE program :S

I had my interview on the 19th for MT. I think we will be notified either late March or early April!

Did you also apply to the master of child study an education program?

So pissed. Got accepted to J/I, and P/J but not I/S. Fuck my life.
I felt the same way at first! But I'm just thankful that I got accepted to one of the two. But I/S would have been amazing though! But i am happy With J/I. Congrats on your acceptances? Which one will you be choosing?

I'm gonna complain, this is crazy. I was a professional RCM trained guitar teacher at four schools, teaching for 4 years; a teacher at a taekwondo school, teaching there for 6 years; volunteered at 2 local highschools for 3 years and I'm also the founder/president of the U of T gracie jiu jitsu club, teaching 150 u of t students for the past 2 years, with an A average within my last year of study. All along, having to endure extreme family issues highlighted in my statement of interest, yet they stated other applicants ranked higher than me? I cant believe it. What more could I have possibly done to get accepted? This is madness. I even graduated from the U of T program which specifically prepares you for OISE; a math specialist with a teaching concentration.

Either something strange is going on here, or the selected applicants blew my credentials out of the water. Either way, I'm going to inquire and find out.

Dbzmay – I understand your frustration and the need to vent, but your posts have compelled me to vent as well.

To begin, the application process is very competitive and there are people on this forum who dream of becoming a teacher. You have been accepted into two programs at one of the best schools in Canada, yet you feel the need to say “fuck my life” as if your life is awful and over because you were not accepted to the I/S program. There are applicants who have worked hard and dream of becoming a teacher but won’t even get into a program, let alone a program at OISE. (Vcnj, thank you for the more respectful and considerate post.)

Second, the tone in your post suggests that what you are really saying is “Either something strange is going on here, … or something strange is going on here because my credentials are amazing.”  If you had a purpose in listing all of your credentials, I can’t think of one other than to express that it would be unlikely for other applicants to have had better credentials; this is confirmed by your comment that the selected applicants must have blown your excellent credentials out of the water. But it wasn’t necessary for the selected applicants to have blown your credentials out of the water to have been successful; they simply needed to be better. Very few of your credentials involve experience in traditional classroom settings, which I believe they attribute more weight to. And while you may have completed a program that specifically prepares you for teaching, I’m not quite sure that would put you at any advantage in the application process, given that the purpose of the program you are applying to is to train you to become a teacher. There are other applicants who completed their undergraduate programs with a cumulative A average and have spent all four years and their summers working in the classroom setting. You’re credentials are impressive, and your achievements are respectable in light of the struggles you underwent, but keep in mind what the school specifically stated it is looking for and what other applicants likely had.

Good luck with the rest of your applications. Hopefully you get into a program that makes life worth living.

Congratulations to those who received acceptances! Question: was your application status on SGS updated as well? Best of luck to those still waiting!
Nope I received my letter last week and submitted my conformation form yesterday and my SGS status still says "under review".

Thanks! I'm currently living outside of Canada so I hope my mailbox has a pleasant surprise for me in the next few days.

Did you guys receive an e-mail from the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning (CTL) about a "Meet & Greet and Research Showcase" specifically for the MT program?

The e-mail says:

Dear applicant,

Thank you for your application to the Master of Teaching in Elementary and Secondary Education (MT) program in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning (CTL) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). As you may know, we have been reviewing applications to our program.  Official notification of results are in the process of being mailed.

As an applicant, we wanted to invite you to the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Meet & Greet and Research Showcase that is scheduled for April 10th, 2013. Attend our Research Showcase and speak with faculty members and students about ongoing research in CTL. Afterwards, you’re invited to meet with our current students to discover more about the program.

---

Maybe I'm over-thinking it, but I would find it odd if they were to invite "any" applicant to attend this showcase, especially now that the date of official results is approaching, which they've also mentioned explicitly in their e-mail.

If they're sending this notice out to applicants who have already been slated for the rejection pile, then UofT's just cruel for the prolonged tease... lol. Sigh. Waiting for my decision to be disclosed.
