Hello other applicants! I found out recently from an admissions representative that they expect the results for the MSW to be available mid-March. The wait is agony! How are others feeling?

Best of luck to everyone.  :)

Thank you for the update! I was wondering when we'd get an admittance/rejection notification.

To answer you're question, I am SO anxious!!! Accepted or rejected, I'd just like to know!!!

Kmed, I know what you mean about just wanting to know one way or the other! I want to get on with my life whatever the results (which I hope are good, but if not I'll just apply next year if I don't get into the other program I applied to).

Briefinterviews: Thanks for that, its good to know that the email might come at any time! That means I have a legitimate excuse to be online 24/7 compulsively checking my email and admission status page!  :D Congratulations on getting in!

For anyone who hasn't found this on an old string from 2012, this is the admission dates and 2012 accepted students info. Hope any 2013 applicants find it useful!

Hello! I applied to the Title IV-E program and am extremely nervous/anxious. I wish we would hear back already... Everyday I check online, but of course nothing has changed... How is everyone else dealing with it? I hold my breath whenever I get an e-mail..

Wow these stats are really interesting! I wish all the other programs had similar available data!

Last year there were over 100 MAP applicants for about 15-16 seats, and this includes a handful of dual-degree students who spend most of their first year in their other program, and one MSW/PhD candidate in our cohort. We also had one student who unfortunately had to leave the program early on, but nobody new filled that seat.

The website says we will hear back in February or March, but from what I read above-- we should expect to hear back mid-March. Is it too early for me to be compulsively checking?
Also, doesn't it look bad to email admissions to find out when we will hear back? Is it bothering them or showing enthusiasm?
Thanks!

Hi friedgreentom!

Yes, they told me (by email) that results would be out in mid-March without any specifics. Though, I am prepared for a possible earlier notification just because people were notified at various times last year (check the link below for the experiences of last year's applicants). I believe it might be done by concentration. Also, if you want to see actual dates of some people being notified last year, open the google doc link I posted above.

I think its never too early to compulsively check!!!  :D Regarding impressions made by contacting the office: I don't think anything (within reason of course) will phase them or affect our applications in anyway. Applicants feeling anxious is normal, especially when people have earlier acceptances from other schools and need to accept or deny those offers by a certain date which they don't want to do until they know if they got into UCB. Also, the people working in the office shouldn't be the same people who are on the admissions committee because those are faculty members. I think we're safe as long as we don't harass/stalk the professors! LOL

Did everyone get this email?

"Dear MSW applicant,

I am writing to inform you that admission notifications for the MSW program will be sent via e-mail between March 18th-22nd.

Thank you for your patience,

Yes, I also received the email.  When I saw it, my heart skipped a few beats because I thought it might be the admissions decision. It was really unexpected because no one mentioned getting it in last year's thread (check above). Maybe its the first year they're doing it?

I think my obsessive checking will subside for a week or two (and then pick up right where I left off).  ;)

You are more than welcome, friedgreentom!!!!!

Hey Everyone,

While it was nice to hear that we will be hearing from Berkeley the week of March, I'm now freaking out cus I didn't receive an email stating this. I was wondering if the emails were in response to emails you had all sent already or was it independent of you contacting them? Please advise and save me from myself!

I never sent them an email, so it was independent of me contacting them.

Hi Hikerboy, did you apply for the MSW alone?  I read somewhere on the SW forum that someone who applied for a concurrent degree had a different time frame for notification. Also, I believe PhD applicants are on a different time schedule. If you did apply for just the MSW I would contact the office to find out why you weren't included. Best of luck and keep us posted!

Does anyone happen to have information about how many seats are available per concentration for our cohort?
I'm also curious about how many students are currently enrolled for each concentration.
Also, any thoughts on how the sequester will impact the program?

Thanks and best wishes to all during this difficult waiting period!
