Eunice, don't quote me on this but I think if you're in need of any type of financial aid (whether it's in the form of scholarships, loans, or a combination of both), that you still need to file a FAFSA.  You don't have to accept the loan amounts that are offered to you.  It's great that you've been offered a substantial scholarship from BC that, along with your savings and AmeriCorps award, will allow you to attend virtually cost free.  Since I noticed you're living in Boston, are your living expenses covered?  Because if not, you may want/need to take out loans (or a part-time job if you could squeeze in the time).  Otherwise, if you're still leaning towards BC, looking forward to having you as a classmate :)

I did my FAFSA January 1st (and had sent it to BC) but I haven't submitted BC's Graduate Financial Aid Application/Validation. Yes, been living in Boston for 4 years now. The living expenses are worrying me. I currently nanny too so I can potentially continue that since it's 12-15 hours a week. Ahhh decisions decisions. Should I decide to attend BC, I look forward to meeting you and the rest as well! :)

You are most welcome icelestial!  Congrats on your acceptance into BC's GSSW!!  If you are ever in need of any tips, suggestions or whatnot regarding where to move to, I recommend reading the "BU Fall 2014" forum post that includes a response from me about what it's like living here in Boston.  I hope you got enough financial aid/scholarship support from BC because it's not a cheap endeavor going to graduate school and living in Boston.  Looking forward to going through orientation with you in the upcoming months :)  Make sure to hold up a sign saying "icelestial" at orientation so I know who you are and I'll do the same lol

sure will do nightwolf lol haha!! probably will need more advice from you since youve been living in boston for a while!! yea, I can't wait to start this new journey now and i have been wanting to go to boston for a long time already!!!!! I haven't received any scholarship yet because the formal letter wasn't even sent out yet!!

Congrats icelestial!!! I also received an email from BC about an acceptance so we may all end up being classmates (along with JMM & Nightwolf & Eunice, etc) !!!

Yay!! Congrats!! BC didn't give me any scholarships and I won't find out about federal aid until April 6th but I think I'm going to go either way and just suck it up and take out loans. Their program best fits my interests and what I want to do. I visited the campus Saturday and it was gorgeous.

Can't wait to meet all of you!

JMM1020 - I really hope everything works out with financial aid! I didn't get a chance to visit the campus so I'm glad to hear that it's gorgeous!

I am really looking forward to the award letter from BC. If they offer me the same (or more) scholarship as BU and Simmons, I think I will be attending BC in the fall. That said, I really like that their program allows you to choose up to two certificates; I am interested in the trauma and Veterans certificates. BU and Simmons offer one for trauma only.

For those who are waitlisted at BU and/or Simmons - I feel like a total douche (I'm so, so sorry!) for holding out for so long on my BU and Simmons offers, but as soon as I receive my letter from BC, I will let these programs know so those on the waitlist will still have a chance.

I received my acceptance email this week. In my agora portal it says BC_GSSW_CORR and it also says BC_GSSW_AWDLTR. Any ideas what the latter is? Did all other accepted applicants see both?

Looks like award letter!

I got accepted into BC GSSW! Yay! I'm totally excited. And they have me a generous scholarship too.

BUT I'm torn between this program and the BU dual-degree program (MSW/MEd) I only got an acceptance email from BU School of Eduation...but it sound like I got accepted to both programs. Waiting to see if BU will give me a scholarship too.

Decisions, decisions...

I will be declining my offer from BC tomorrow, with a scholarship offer of $24,000. I hope it will go to another student on the waitlist!

Hey HopefulMSW!

If you don't mind me asking, why did you choose BU over BC? I have this decision to make as well, that's why I ask.

Hi nelle_008, CONGRATS on your acceptances!! Ultimately, I chose BU because I felt that BU would be able to offer more specialized training/mentorship in the trauma certificate program, Also, BU has more professors that are currently conducting research in trauma and/or veterans, whereas BC focused a lot on aging and immigration. So I guess for me, it really came down to the research opportunities and training/mentorship offered at BU but not at BC. I hope this helps. Best of luck on your decision!

Thanks HopefulMSW. I was drawn to BU because of it's dual-degree program with the School of Education.

But BC is a great program and since they offer school social work certification I was very excited. Plus they are definitely being generous in their scholarship.

Still haven't heard from BU SSW :( ...the waiting process after you have heard from other programs is so stressful!

I'm sure many of you have already been contacted by your Field Placement Specialist (for those who've been accepted and are attending BC this Fall).  Have any of you received your field placement for this upcoming year?  I was placed at Boston Rescue Mission working with homeless struggling with substance abuse issues.  I'm really looking forward to it.

Oh and as a reminder, registration for classes is coming up in a few weeks:  Monday June 2nd @ 9am :)  SO EXCITING!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I downloaded the program that we use to register for classes. It seems a bit confusing for me. Someone help me!

Also I came across a facebook group for the upcoming cohort
https://www.facebook.com/groups/579628072133405/

I think you have to get verified with your bc address then find the social work group and join.
