Microsoft Word Spacing for SOP

Basic question, but application says "double spacing with one inch margins all around"  How do I program double spacing on the latest version of Word?  I know you go into Paragraph, but what should the settings say?  Thank you as there are so many variables in this tab.

You can just select the text you want to make double-spaced, then click control+2 (in Windows) or command+2 (on a mac).

 

Or, in Paragraph, in the "Spacing" section there is a drop down menu for "Line spacing" (second menu in that section), you can choose "Double."

Just a question, but didn't you write papers as an Undergrad where you were required to double space?  I mean certaintly there are many tabs, dropdown menus on Word that can make it confusing (and sometimes frustrating), but isn't proficiency with Microsoft Word or any other document/presentation-related software required at the Undergraduate level let alone as as a Grad student?  And even then, there's always google or your basic internet search engine.  Forgive me for sounding a little brash or like an "asshole" but the question seemed a little "obvious" especially when in the Paragraph tab it does say "Spacing" followed by "Line Spacing" to the right.  I don't think you can get more obvious than that.....but then again I come from a generation that didn't have stuff spoonfed to them.

I agree. The OP's question is highly googleable.

You can also highlight your text and, in the "paragraph" section of the "home" ribbon, click the button that looks like lines of a paragraph with up and down arrows next to it. Then just click the spacing you want from the drop down menu. Don't even bother going into the paragraph dialog and confusing yourself. I only use it for business letters with stupid spacing conventions, or to undo stupid spacing the previous document author did.

 

Seriously though, the internet is apparently full of people whose hobby is answering questions about how to use the weirder features of Office products. I owe everything I know about Excel to these mysterious pasty strangers.
