Hi everyone!

I'm wondering if there are any Canadians that lurk around in this thread. Congratulations to those that got accepted this year!

I myself have been waitlisted at UWO and was wondering where everyone is deciding to go. Please let me know if you decide to choose another school apart from UWO - it would definitely help with my peace of mind! :)

Hi!

I accepted an offer of admission into UWO's Audiology program for Fall 2014. AudHopeful1234 - I applied last year and was waitlisted. I've got my fingers crossed for ya! Is there anyone else out there who has accepted an offer of admission at UWO?? I can't seem to find anyone else who has mentioned their acceptance on forums. I was hoping to start a Facebook group soon so we can get to know each other a bit better.

@KylieEden or @chels2014 - if you're still active on here do you mind sharing (or pm'ing me) with your stats? I have my heart set on Western 2015 and haven't yet met anyone who got accepted. I'd love to know what to expect!

Westerngalgrad: For the past few years, the entering class average for the UWO Audiology program has been around the mid-80's (my year was ~85%). I would say anything 80%+ is competitive because they do look at things other than your marks (personal statement, references, research, volunteer work etc). Good Luck!

Kylie and Chels: Congrats on getting accepted!! See you on Tuesday!

Deaf Audie: Congrats on the UBC acceptance! So happy for you!!

It's nice to finally see an Audiology forum on this site :D

Hi!

I'm also applying to UWO, UBC and Dalhousie as well as Northwestern in the US, for fall 2015 cycle.  Good luck to everybody!  Congrats to those who got in :)

I am just curious what kinds of places people are volunteering or shadowing at.  For those that have been accepted, what experience did you have?  I'm worried I may not have enough volunteering experience, but I have worked as an audio engineer and graduated from a degree program.  I'm hoping that will be of some benefit.

Hi

I'm applying to audiology at Western and U of O. My cummulative GPA = 3.7 and my GPA = 3.48. Currently, I have about 120 volunteer hours at an Otolaryngology research facility it was their that I did my bashelors honours project focusing on hearing loss. However, I am worried about getting in due to my GPA.

As anyone gotten in with such a low GPA?

Hi, I also wish to apply to UWO, and Dalhousie University for the audiology program. I have an Okay GPA, but have yet to take my GRE and gain volunteer experience.

What are some possible places I can volunteer at within the London-Waterloo-Toronto (all ontario) region? Also, if someone can explain how GRE works, and what are considered competitive scores as well as how to go about studying for it that would be awesome!
The other question I have is whether the UWO and Dalhousie has an interview component as well as part of the admissions process. If anyone have gone through it and can share their experience that would be great!

Thanks!

Aud.can: You can find audiologists in your area through this website: https://members.caslpo.com/public/register.htm

I would contact them directly or walk into their practice and ask if you can volunteer.

UWO does not have an interview component (don't know about DAL).

I had very limited audiology related volunteering experience. I don't think the number of hours matter as long as you have the minimum number and your overall application is strong. But its definitely a good way (along with the clinical reference letter) to improve or strengthen your application. We have an audio engineer in my class and the first year class also has someone with that background. It's a good background to have!
