University of Michigan MEng in Structural Engineering

I'm in desperate need of help.  I was all geared up to accept my offer at University of Michigan for an MEng in Structural Engineering.  However, when I asked a last minute question about classes, the admissions officer told me that "most students take 3 semesters, Fall, Spring, Fall, to finish the program."  I was hoping to finish the program in one year.  Does anyone know of anyone who did it in a year?  Even better, anyone out there do it in a year?  Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!
