DrPH Applications

I am applying to some DrPH programs this fall and have some questions for people who have been admitted.

 

1) Prior to applying, did you contact professors working in your area(s) of interest? I know for some PhD programs making contact ahead of the application is expected if not required.

 

2) In your personal statement, did you talk more about your leadership experience/ goals or was your statement more research focused? I know DrPHs are primarily about public health leadership but many are conducting research and work in academia.

 

I know this topic is for applications but I thought I'd ask....

 

3) What types of financial aid (non loans) did you receive or the program offer?

 

I am particularly interested in applying to Berkeley.  I would greatly appreciate hearing from any person(s) with information specific to this program.  I am applying to other programs (UNC, UIC, and Loma Linda) so any information is appreciated. Thank you.
