Focus Areas

I'm looking to start an Ed Tech masters this fall, but I'm not an educator in the traditional sense - I work for a medical tech company on training development and client adoption of our software. So I'm just curious what other focus areas you all have within education? Are the majority K-12 focus?

I think it also differs by institution - some programs are more geared towards K-12 or Higher Ed depending on research projects, institutes, and faculty, while others may have a more private sector focus.

My interest is in K-12 education outside of my native country (U.S.), so go figure. I've studied with wannabe teachers, policy makers domestic and international, ed philosophers, and a few people who came in with an interest but left with a completely different one.

In my experience, sometimes - and this depends completely on the program and the faculty - there is a bias towards academic learning (whether it's K-12 or Higher Ed) above studying learning in professional settings.

I work in IR, basically state reporting for a college (aka no student interaction). I have no experience or direct interest in K-12.

I'm going to Penn in the fall for Statistics, Measurement, Assessment and Research Technology.
