Who is still waiting to hear?

Recommended Posts

Who else is still waiting on a waitlist, official or unofficial? I'm on the waitlist at the University of Northern Colorado and really hoping to get off. I haven't heard a peep since being waitlisted and I'm feeling so anxious about it. I try to remind myself that not hearing is better than being rejected, but my obsession with the results page has really ramped up this week. Anyone else feel like they just can't take anymore waiting?

Yes I'm also waiting on the waitlist! I emailed the director today just to see if they were done or still had spots. I want to offically accept my other offer soon if I don't have a shot but really want to go to the school I'm waitlisted at! I hate the waiting lol

I feel like I kept it cool until 4/15 but once 4/16 arrived I kinda lost my mind. I've accepted at ISU but, logistically speaking, I'm not sure I can attend. They have an 8 week clinical on campus in the summer and I just don't know how I would complete that. I would be asking alot of everyone in my family. Colorado would work so much better for me.

I've already accepted USC, but am waiting on at least four waitlists that are close to home, much cheaper, and a year shorter. Even will some funding, distance ed is pretty expensive. It'll still be great to attend since I can stay home... and work... but I'd rather be close to home and attend a shorter, less expensive program. I'm just hoping I know soon so I can start moving forward with whatever school I end up going to. :)

couldn't we potentially be waiting on these wait lists until just before classes start? I was hoping I would have more clarity around the 16th but I haven't heard a peep from my top choice school (where i am waitlisted)

Anecdotal but my husband did his post-bacc with someone who was later accepted off the waitlist at PSU a week before classes started... She had already rented a room out of state in the city of the school she had accepted at, but I guess managed to cancel everything to attend PSU instead. So it's apparently totally possible!

I just wish the schools would give us some clue about where we stand. Do they have a full class at this point? Are they still filling spots? I know they'll probably email us when they have a full class, so no news is good news. But I am just dying to know something!

The schools I talked to said it's entirely possible to get accepted at the last second, but not very common. A majority of people accepted off the waitlist will know before May 15, and a small portion up until June 15. People definitely still get accepted after that (if somebody ends up dropping out at the last second), but it's not very common. Still, May-June is still a VERY VERY long time to wait!! I can only wait until the middle of May as orientation is the 16 and classes start the second day of June... I think I'll have a little relief once I can't turn back. Until then, it's just the waiting game.... AGAIN!

I'm just curious if any of you ever heard someone got accepted from being rejected. I meant to say a school accepted 30 students and then have a 30 wait listed. Its possible that all of those 30 wait listed get somewhere and out of 30 accepted students this school might not be their first choice of school. What happens then? I doubt it that this has happened but you never know :-)

In Canada at least, once they go through the waitlist, that's it. The school will just have a smaller cohort that year.

I'm on 1 waitlist and got rejected from everywhere else, so I'm hoping I get called! Applicants who have been waitlisted have to have accepted thir waitlist status by April 28th, so I'll be on edge after that date. Sooo stressful!

Most schools only go through their waitlist, as trejsi said... but I saw at least one school on the forum last year where somebody posted and said they were rejected then accepted, so it's definitely possible. It probably depends on the school and/or how small the cohort is once they've gone through the entire waitlist. I doubt it happens often... but again, still possible. :)

Yes, I'm still waiting as well. I'm trying my best to distract myself from checking emails, gradcafe, and program website portals. I'm having total deja vu as I was waitlisted this time last year. =/

Katielea, have you accepted your ISU offer or do you have some time before you have to give them an answer? If you don't mind me asking, what would prevent you from attending the 8 week summer clinical? I've been curious about their summer clinicals as well. I think finding housing for 8 weeks could be a challenge.

I have accepting my spot at ISU, and I still plan on going if I don't get in to Northern Colorado. But I do still have reservations. The cost is so high. Finding housing might be difficult, but i'm not that worried about that. I have two small children who will be 3 and 5 during the clinical. So they would have to be in daycare, either with me in Idaho or at home with their dad. I was hoping that their grandparents would be able to come out to help care for them for a good portion of it but they just visited us and could barely keep up with them for a morning, definitely not able to watch them all day everyday for eight weeks. I know some people will think this is silly but that summer is my daughter's last summer before kindergarten. I've stayed home with her since birth so the idea of missing out on (either because she's in daycare or home with her dad) my last summer as her full-time mom totally breaks my heart. It's definitely not hte only thing keeping me from going but it's not helping. It's certainly not impossible, but i feel like I would be asking so much of everyone in my family. It just doesn't feel like the best fit for me.

Katielea, I totally understand. I am in a similar situation in that I have a six year old daughter. It helps that she is a little older and can understand why I would need to be away during clinicals, but it certainly isn't an ideal situation. I felt the same way about being home with my daughter the summer before she started kindergarten. Children are only young for a short time and as parents we don't want to miss out on too much. Hopefully things work out for us this admissions cycle! Good luck!

I did email them on friday and they emailed back on saturday offering me a spot. I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence or what. I like to think that they were on the fence and my continued interest is what tipped the scaled in my favor!

Katielea, did you email Constance or one of the graduate coordinators? Thanks. =) I've been in contact with Constance, but now I'm thinking maybe I should email coordinators at both ISU and UNCO.

Congrats again =)
