Do you guys know if I can still be a TA and have the NIFA fellowship/ Yeah I haven't heard anything either. That sounds like a good question for your Grad Secratary. I'm pretty sure you can't do that here at Pitt. Maybe you can defer it until spring if you are awarded one? Does anyone know for sure that they haven't announced the Graduate Fellowships yet? The directions were very specific about that. You should be able to change the start date of the fellowship with your Grants and Research office, however I do not know if USDA allows postponing the start date. I'm in the same boat as you - I have a TA position and if USDA hurries and announces the results I can back out for maybe 10 more days but soon I'll have to seriously commit for the semester. You'd think they would have to allow you to postpone a semester with such a late announcement date. Last year they announced in mid-July, which I thought was kind of late. I imagine that if they have taken this long to announce anything (assuming that is the case) then I feel they would have to allow people to postpone if they must. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
