Any funding (e.g. scholarships) available to pay for grad school apps?

You can apply for tuition waivers for application fees at most universities. The process can be a pain, though, and I recommend starting on those as early as possible, because bureaucracy.

Hey, there! Sometimes, application fee waivers can be unexpected, if you work with a qualifying organization.  For example, my good friend had application fees for Brandeis and UConn (I THINK UConn, but I'm not positive. Definitely Brandeis, though) waived because she works with AmeriCorps.  So, I would call the department or search the website to see if there's any possibility to have app fees waived.

As for the GRE ... *shudder* that was a $1,000+ investment for me, including tutoring classes that made all the difference.  I don't know if there's anything you can do to receive discounts on the GRE registration fee or tutoring!! :(
