Political Science CV for applications

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Most applications require or recommend a CV.  Any advice on how to model one (in social sciences in particular)?  I've obviously peeked at the graduate students in the PhD programs I like, and there is quite a bit of variation.  Any good websites or books that look to answer this question?  Considering most of us do not have enough academic experience to fill up tons of pages - what and how much do we expound on?  How have ya'll chosen to order your sections, include, etc..

Thanks for the help

My sections are education, research experience, research interests, language institutes and languages, and awards/grants. It comes out to two pages. I didn't 'expound' on anything. Everything is just titles and dates, no descriptions. Anything that is especially relevant is mentioned in my SOP.

Thanks victorydance.

Did you include a section for working papers and the likes?  Also, are your sections in that order? I've seen research interests commonly placed under the contact information at the top of the cv.

I don't have any working papers and obviously no publications. If you have presented at a conference or something, then yeah you could have a section for articles.
