GRE scores for Canadian Universities

Recommended Posts

Hey!

I applied to grad school last year (for fall 2014) and was unsuccessful. I only applied to Mcgill and the Ontario schools. So I have decided to write the GRE so I can also apply to U of A and Dalhousie for next year. I have also uped my sGPA from 3.76 to a 3.92, and now have 100 hours volunteering with an SLP (instead of 20). But my overall question is, what should I be aiming for on the GRE? I write in 3 weeks, and I have taken a complete practise test and got 156 V/ 153 Q (and unmarked essays). Any advice? Anyone know what U of A and Dal are looking for?

Thanks so much! I'm already freaking out about next application season :S haha

I was wondering the same thing.  I have decided to write the GRE, and i write in October.  I am hoping to apply to Dalhousie, as well this year.  I applied to U of T last fall and was unsuccessful.  There is no minimum score for the GRE for both Alberta and Dalhousie which makes it difficult because of course they will look at the highest scores possible.

I'm pretty sure that most Canadian universities, like American universities, strongly prefer to see GRE scores in at least the 50th percentile.

I have also heard that Dal reserves most of their spots for their own students. Not sure about UofA.

This is actually not true about Dal. I am in the program right now and in our class of 36, there are at most 5 people from Dal! So don't be discouraged by this rumour!
