Hi!

I've been researching applying to sociology grad programs mostly in Western Europe. I've noticed that most of them don't list GRE scores among their requirements. For those who know - is this normal? Are there opinions on whether or not I should still take the GRE in case they suddenly ask for my score and it doesn't exist! HELP

Thanks in advance

Very few schools in Europe ask for GRE scores and I'm no sure if they're mandatory any where. If you know you're only applying to Europe then you don't need to take it. Lucky you!

The GRE is an American invention for American schools. So, it's really only US schools that require the GRE. I think some Canadian schools will ask for GREs for international students (but not Canadian students) and I think some fields (e.g. Psychology) in Canada require at least the subject GRE. As a non-American, I was really surprised to learn that there was even a standardized test at the graduate school level!
