"Why" you weren't accepted into a program

Recommended Posts

Hi there!  I have not started applying to grad schools yet, but I will begin the process in December for Fall 2015.  I know it is not uncommon to try year after year to get into SLP grad school.  That being said, if you aren't accepted into a school, does that school ever give you specific reasons why you weren't accepted?  For instance, maybe you didn't have enough or the right pre reqs?  Or perhaps they'd like you to gain a little more experience in the field?  Or is it plausible to reach out to that school and ask what you can do to better your chances the next time around?  Just wondering what the protocol is, for those of you who have experienced the application process.

Some of the rejection letters said to feel free to contact the department if you had questions or wanted to know what you could do better next time.

That's nice to hear!  Do you have an undergrad in SLP or did you take prerequisite classes?  I'm looking at Grand Valley State.
