Where to study neurochemistry?

I've known forever that I want to do neurochemistry (specifically relating to psychological disorders). Its a bit hard to find this kinda stuff through chem departments, but I know it exists!

 

Anyone know of places other than KU, Scripps, and University of Illinois?

You may want to look outside of chemistry departments as I imagine a lot of neuroscience programs have professors doing work on neurochemistry.

You wanna find someone that does biophysics in the chemistry department. thats what i did and found a great fit. Don't get a ton of neurochemistry specifics like the workings of the macro system but very interesting field, and the stuff not covered is easily picked up when you read the literature.

Personally I'd suggest looking at molecular biology programs, I think you're more likely to find what you want there. 

 

That said, there's some great work at Rice in the chemistry department- Marti and Wolynes have both done a lot of work with amyloid plaques, and Marti is a really nice guy.

 

If you really want to stick with chemistry programs, I'd suggest doing a backwards approach- find articles in chemistry journals dealing with neurochemistry, and track those back to departments/PIs. 

 

Somewhere like JACS will mostly have chemistry groups publishing, and you should be able to browse abstracts easily without university access, but most schools will probably have online full text.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I did look through both chem and bio programs and found atleast one or two professors at every university I applied too!
