Physics undergrad to Robotics Phd possible?

I was wondering whether someone with a Physics UG could apply with a reasonable chance of admission to Robotics Graduate schools (Control System specialization) which are generally in the Mech E or ECE department. Personally here are my stats:
3.96 GPA from a small LAC
GRE: 167Q 160V 4.5A
1 paper published and 2 Posters unrelated to Control Systems
Strong LOR, small LAC college tons of interaction with professors

My decision to pursue Control systems and Automation is resolute and I am just trying to see if I can go to grad school next fall or I have to get some experience and attend in a future date.

Thanks in advance!

If your "decision to pursue Control systems and Automation" is truly resolute, you shouldn't be posting this topic/question right now, should you?

It might be easier to get into masters than PhD in robotics. You can try that.

That's the realization I am slowly coming to..I don't have the financial resources to pay for one so I will try my luck in finding a job for a year or so before applying again if I fail in all my PhD application this year

You could always send out a few applications this round if the cost doesn't bother you, while making preparations to do what you would do if you hadn't applied at all.

Thanks, I have already completed 6 and will end up with around 12 applications at the end of the month..The cost is substantial but it is nothing compared to what I stand to gain..Do you recommend any programs?

It's probably too late by now for some schools that you should consider (for instance, Harvard, whose deadline was Dec. 15)...

I actually almost applied there, I send my GRE scores and all my applications materials were ready including my essay and (that ridiculous re-reinstatement of all the courses taken that Harvard makes u do) but then in the last minute I dropped the application quite painfully and dramatically..I looked at some data from fellow applicants and basically realized I did not stand a chance and also additionally did not deserve it at this time of my career..I was sad at first but at least I stopped wishful thinking and came back to reality..

Their bio-robotics program lead by Dr. Wood actually mirrors my research interest perfectly but honestly I do not deserve to go there yet

It is resolute..I do not intend to change my course based on whether I can get into a PhD program in this area now..If I do not get in now, I am simply going to look for internships and job to gain more experience in this field and apply again at a future date
