I am. Applying for a few Aero and MechE PhD programs now. I'm intending to study high speed combustion and combustion control.

I applied to USC, U Washington, and UT Austin so far. I have one more application that I'm working on though... UCONN.

Each one seems to have a different flavor of the same topics, so hopefully if I get in to more than one I will have the opportunity to match my interests as closely as possible.

I grew up in the Midwest and have been able to visit Purdue and Penn State's campuses and facilities - they're awesome! Love the towns and areas too.

Nope, nothing here. The universities to which I applied have all stated decisions will come by mid-March, so I'm trying to be patient and wait.

That being said, I've still been checking my status online every day...

I'm applying to two Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering PhD programs: UCLA and Minnesota. Although my field is computational materials science, those programs' researchers fit my interests better then others from Materials Engineering ones.

I'm expecting to have some news from Minnesota by end January or beginning February, but UCLA may take a while.

Best luck to all!

I applied only to Georgia Tech.
Waiting for the decision.
Checking my email ten times a day for a decision that propably won't come before March/April...
Well, anxiety is killing me =/

Hey all,

I'm applying from New Zealand - submitted applications for Caltech, MIT, Stanford and Georgia Tech. Wasn't expecting to hear back until mid/late-February, but I got accepted by Stanford a few days back, much to my surprise! Now wondering how long I'll have to wait for the other three :o

From all these posts, it seems like people apply to loads of different schools. I could barely stand one application process! I applied for an aero PhD at UoT. I did some research at Manchester University before, looking at biofuel combustion. Anyone in a similar field?

Anyone hearing anything? This is my first application process and I keep seeing that the Chemical Engineers and Biomedical Engineers are hearing back interviews and acceptances. I haven't heard a peep from any of the Texas Universities. Also I turned down a chance to interview with UTC Aerospace Systems- Space division this week.....so hopefully I made the right decision to go to gradschool this fall.....

Texan, I'm in the same boat. Haven't heard a thing and am becoming increasingly nervous... like should I be applying for jobs right now?

I was only job hunting to do something between now and when school starts in August since I am not in school right now. I got a job as a Mechanical Design Engineer close to where my family is (have family health issues), and I didn't want to leave this current city.....no matter how awesome UTC aerospace systems would be.

Currently I am seeing a couple of internships positions for the summer opening up if you are looking for those. And I also see a lot of Mechanical Engineering jobs out there, which is surprising to see oil and gas open positions since they are laying off people in Eagle Ford Shale area (in Texas).

I use in order of favorite LinkedIn, CareerBuilder, Rigzone(Oil and Gas), Monster, and Indeed for my job searching. I see few aerospace positions but they are out there, but aerospace engineers can always apply for mechanical engineering positions. Generally if you want to start working in the spring to summer I would say between Feb-March is when a lot of engineering positions open up, but that is just my opinion (only second time looking for a job).

I didn't contact any professors and they did not contact me (other than the email saying to check my status online). What's your intended area of study?

But I understand how you feel... Some people got into UT-Austin for Aero a few days ago and I'm still waiting for a response...

I'm hoping to study in fluid mechanics. What about you? Oh and good luck with your apps for UTAustin!
