Does UNO (New Orlreans) have a good reputation in geology MS program?

There is a professor likely to accept with TAship, and he has a good lab research and good publication record in his area. But the ranking of UNO and its geology program seems to be quite low. Should I consider about this?

Funded masters is always good... And if he has a good track record it can set you up for a good job or a PhD program. I did an unranked funded masters before my phd.

Do not.... I repeat... do not go here. Just yesterday, the Louisiana budget gutting the entire state education system was passed. Even our flagship university had its state budget cut by 78%...... 78%. The entire system is about to bleed to death, and UNO will be one of them. Do not invest your future into this. It may not even last you throughout your masters.

And the prof said it is required for his MS student to publish at least one paper to get the degree. So it seems that the prof is strict with the research.

The point is more that no one is sure how much longer UNO as a university will exist. I'd be very leery of getting my MS from a school that might no longer be around in a few years.

UNO got cut off from LSU and the LSU system a couple of years ago, and has been floundering without that funding and research support.

Louisiana native here. I personally wouldn't take the chance of going to UNO. If the proposed budget cuts go through (and they will to some extent), I could see the university dropping off the map in 5-10 years. This state does not value higher education. Sad and backwards, I know, but it's the reality of the situation.

I have no doubt that people exist who bill themselves as exorcists. Or astrologers. Or mediums, etc. So I'm thinking you meant something else.
