I got my bsc chemistry degree from one of the best universities in iran with a 3.93 GPA . I have 1-2 year reeearch experience in analytical chemistry as an undergraduate. My resume contains 2 papers (good impact ISI J.) and 1 international conference and 2 national conferences (all as first author). My toefl and GRE would be around 95-110 for toefl and V:~155-165 Q:~167-169 W:3-4 for GRE. I am aiming at a US university ranked 30+ for PHD in  biochemistry or analytical chemistry field. Are thete any chances for Rockefeller, Scripps, UCLA, Columbia and Texas Austin?Do you have any suggestion for other universities? TNX so much!

You may want to specify what subfields within chemistry you're aiming for. Also as an international applicant you need to get your Writing score 4+ to be considered at some of the more competitive US programs.

Thanks, yeah I should work more on my GRE writing;

as I said, Analytical chemistry or bio. Specifically "Lab on a chip" , "Spectroscopy", "Molecular biology (drug discovery, ...)" or "bioinformatics and computioal biology" .

Most of the west coast large universities (caltech, UC berkeley, stanford, etc.) have some pretty high ranked programs. Some others to consider are some of the Texas schools (A&M, Austin, etc). When you say molecular biology you may want to try some of the umbrella programs since the drug discovery would tend to be more biology focused than chemistry (you could try Purdue MCMP - which sounds like what you may like). I know WashU has a good computational bio program.

From what you've stated, I am not quite sure what areas you actually want to try since these programs are very different than one another. Go to pubmed and look up some of these topics and then look up the institutes associated with the authors - this would be a more effective way of putting together a list of programs you would like to apply to.

When you say "caltech, UC berkeley,..." ; I guess I have no chance to enter these uni even top 15 at least based on my friends....

Hey I'm just a random guy on the internet, not a member of the Adcomm at these institutes. If there are profs doing research you like at these schools - go ahead and apply. You seem to have a decent profile so don't be discouraged.  :)

 I'm just curious about it! Hope so. :)
