sociologue
Hi all, I plan ro apply to Sociology programs that specialize, are known for, or have multiple (at least 3) faculty focused on critical perspectives on inequality in society. For me, Omi and Winant, George Lipsitz, Joe Feagin, Eduardo Bonilla-Silva, Patricia hill Collins, Dorothy Roberts are all on the more critical side. William Julius Wilson, Annette Lareau, Alba, Frank Bean and Jennifer Lee, anyone at Chicago (lol) are more conservative in their perspectives of social inequality. I know that this post is a long shot, but I really want to pursue this kind of sociological thought, regardless of rankings, prestige, and popularity. And all of you have more knowledge than me. That said, I know UCSB is very strong in critical theory and is highly ranked. Thank you!
MaxWeberHasAPosse
Loïc Waquant at Berkeley. Not from a critical theory standpoint, however. UCSB is good for this. Shamon
MBDT
You'll want to apply to Duke. Their workshop on race is pretty unique within the world of sociology.
