Hi Guys,

Could you let me know which subforums would be appropriate here? Creative Writing? Film Studies? Media Studies? (Film and Media Studies?) Painting? Poetry?! Reply with some suggestions and I'll try to get a consensus.

Perhaps you'll want to make some catergories and even more sub categories such as:

1. Peforming Arts

a. Dance

b. Theater

c. Vocal Performance

Etc.

2. Electronic Arts

a. Film and TV Production (I noticed some Film and Media Studies threads were in the arts section and perhaps these could be moved to humanities where there are about three 3 other great film/media studies threads going. The actual film/media production (practice, not study) threads should stay here in the arts area.

3. Visual Arts

a. Painting

b. Drawing

c. Sculpture

d. photography

Etc.

4. Other

a. Poetry

c. Dramatic Writing

d. Fiction

Etc.

Thank you for your thoughtful post! I'm trying to avoid too many sub sub forums, so I have taken the main headings and created a sub forum for each and used your sub-sub forums as descriptions :)

I noticed the changes. Very nice and tidy! I forgot to mention music but I saw you caught it and put it in there. Very easy and clean now! Thanks!

There should be a fine arts forum for painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, fibers, fine art photography, new genres, public arts etc.

...and then a separate one for design and applied visual arts like graphic design, illustration, interior design, industrial design, product design, environmental design.

Film.

Underneath it:

- Directing

- Producing

- Cinema/Film Studies

- Scriptwriting

Etc.

As a film studies person myself I'm seeing it half scattered across the arts and the humanities. Would be nice to find a place to put it even though I myself am quite unsure as to which is more appropriate. Media studies is, imho, humanities but film studies is halfway there and halfway w/the other film stuff.

I guess I just want unity?

Hi, why isn't there an alumni forum? I would love to chat with people on life after Grad School so we can vent about the post grad life, whether our schools lived up to our expectations, and share advice on student loans and talk about career trajectories. The discussion on this board is too focused on people attending grad school and there's not enough input on those who have graduated with their Masters and can speak about the pluses and minuses about the programs they've attended.
