Just got a email saying I got wait-listed at Western.I was so nervous opening up the email message from them! Does anyone have any clues regarding the waitlist situation at Western? I've only applied to Western so I really hope I can get in. Best of luck to everyone here for getting into your dream school!!

I'm a first year AUD student at UWO - I was on the waitlist as well when I applied, but was accepted about 2-3 weeks later.  Another girl in my program was also waitlisted, and was accepted 6 weeks before the program began! As far as I know, we are the only ones who were waitlisted, but there could've been others.

Last year's class has 19 students (supposed to be 20, but one dropped out), they increased enrolment to 22 for my class, and they're increasing it again to 30-35 for next year's class.  Just to give people some idea of stats.

We have people in my class that came straight from undergrad, have been out of school for a while, have done Master's and PhD's, have been Hearing Instrument Specialists, have music/linguistics/science backgrounds, etc - there's a good variety of people!

1st year AUD UWO student here as well! :) I was waitlisted too and got the call mid-April. Including swrigh11 and myself, 4 people (or more!) from our class were waitlisted before getting accepted.

I heard that the incoming Fall 2017 class has 28 MClSc students with 2 combined MClSc/PhD (those that found a supervisor for their PhD thesis). There are probably just as many people on the waitlist (in my year, there were 25 waitlisters for a class of 22!). This sounds scary, but the fact that they have so many people waitlisted suggests that the "turnover" rate can be high. People get accepted to other audiology programs, med school, etc. There are years where there's little/no movement on the waitlist and there are years when more waitlisted people get accepted.

Fingers crossed that you'll get the acceptance call, but have a Plan B ready just in case! If you don't get accepted this year, what will you do? Travel? Volunteer? Get more clinical experience? Work in a clinic? There are endless possibilities that will enrich your experience and boost your chances if you apply again. Remember, it's not always about marks :) Your personality, experience, and beliefs are what can make you a good candidate for audiology (or anything in life, really)!

Best of luck to you all!

Does any one know when the audiology waitlists begins to move?

thanks

I think April 5th for Dal because that is when Dal accepted students have to give in their decisions by. Not sure for Western.

Western said in the email that they'll start contacting people mid-April

Congrats on getting in! Did you accept your offer yet? Just wondering because when I accepted, I didn't get a confirmation email and am wondering if you encountered this as well!

I have accepted. I didn't receive an email though. I went around the SLP forums and it seems like some of them are getting the same issue. After a day or so it changed in ORPAS though. I believe that it is fine, but I will probably end up checking before the 14th.

Thank you for taking the time to explain the waitlist process to all of us! Your post was very helpful and I really appreciate it!

I have also been waitlisted at UWO and UBC. It feels like a nervous waiting game but best of luck to everyone! :)

Congrats everyone! I'm also waitlisted at UBC! (My letter says April 7th)

Congrats AudMusic! Good luck!

I am still waiting on my letter, is April 7th the last day those offered admission have to accept? I was also wondering if the letter indicated the waitlist ranking at all?

Thank you!

Thanks! The letter was dated April 7th and I received it by email a few days after. The letter particularly mentions that you cannot inquire about your rank. Yes, the last day to accept/decline for those offered admission was around that date.

Accepted from the waitlist at Western this morning. I've already accepted my admissions to the Dal program, so the waitlist will still be moving for Western hopefuls!!
