Coworking spaces for masters students

Does your department have any grad student offices, or classrooms that are unoccupied at certain times? I used those even as an undergrad (had grad student friends) and found them quiet and more accepting of my hot tea addiction than the library :P

It depends on how you work really. If you can work well in a group, then by all means, have at it. But I have found that unless we are all working on completely separate things, group writing tends to get a bit off track. Personally, I just locked myself in my room, put my noise-cancelling headphones on with a single song playing on loop for hours, and just worked. I lived with my parents and they knew that once the headphones were on, don't bother me.
