  1. I have Bio, Chem, Physics, and Math through Calculus. I've taken courses in organic evolution, ecology, and all the major cell, development, genetics, and molecular biology courses. I could use a course in biostats, however, though I have sequencing experience through my work. I'm open to exploring conservation, population genetics, predator-human interactions (specifically felines), circadian biology, predator competition, speciation, and ecotoxicology. @zabius I'm glad to hear there's significant overlap between the two. Hopefully I'll have enough experience to pursue a masters program, and then eventually pursue a PhD if that's what I decide to do.
  2. Congratulations everyone! I haven't received any new results lately. I'm starting to think it's for the best since I'm considering shifting my focus towards more ecology/evolutionary/conservation biology. This is scary since the past 4-5 years I've pretty much only known physiology, cell, and molecular biology. I have a general idea of where I should go from here, but is it going to be as big a transition as I'm making it out to be?
  3. UMass is a waitlist. I haven't heard anything from UIC. Competition was fierce this year. I've seen acceptances for both following the interviews on the results page, though.
  4. Rejected at Notre Dame. My heart is crushed.
  5. Still no news. I'm beginning to wonder if the sequestration is affecting things a bit.
  6. Officially waitlisted at UMass. Still waiting to hear from the other two places. Considering it's pretty much April and I don't have any offers of admission, it's not looking pretty for me. I guess you'll be seeing me in next year's application cycle! 3 interviews and no offers. I guess they really didn't like me, lol. Again, congrats everyone!
  7. I haven't heard anything from anyone. I'm still holding out hope for April 15th, but who knows. I don't know about Roswell Park Cancer Institute, but I'm guessing they'll want you to talk about your research and that.
  8. I haven't heard anything so far either, and it's already passed mid-March. The wait is killing me! I'm not officially on any waitlists, and I heard one school is still reviewing applications...
  9. Still no word from anywhere. Then again, I couldn't really find anyone else applying to the same programs I did on here. Maybe mine are just oddballs? In any case, congratulations everyone!
  10. Congratulations everyone! I'm sure you guys will make the right decisions in choosing the places you want to attend. @ion exchanger: Hearing back from a school after 5 weeks gives me more hope for some places I haven't heard back from. Maybe they're genuinely still deciding on who to admit and everything. It's very hard to tell at this point.
  11. I made a stupid mistake and neglected to send thank you notes to everyone I interviewed with. At this point, I wish there was a way to rectify this, but alas, we'll have to wait and see. I wish I would have practiced interviewing more (I'm absolutely terrible during interviews due to overwhelming social anxiety and overall awkwardness). Other than that, I don't have many regrets, but I've learned from my mistakes and I'm ready to take on this process next year!
  12. No response anywhere so far... I'm beginning to think the schools may have lost my email address/phone number. Looks like I may be joining you guys next application season.
  13. Agreed. The earlier you can start, and the more you can work on an independent research project, the better. Look at summer opportunities, semester opportunities, and speak with faculty early to see if they have any openings in their labs for undergrads.
  14. Got an email asking directing me to the Northwestern University website for a decision regarding my application. Considering I didn't make to the interview round, I have a feeling what the result is. At least it's official now. No word from anywhere else... Does it normally take this long for schools to get back to you?
  15. I haven't heard anything from them yet... I guess they're still reviewing applications and hope to have their decisions made by mid-March. I've seen a couple acceptances here and there, but that was the information I was given when I emailed the last week. Also, I think some people who submitted results got the Biological Sciences program and the Biomedical Sciences program confused with each other. Hopefully I'll know my fate before the end of the week! Notre Dame is probably my top choice at this point, but I'd be happy going to any of the schools I interviewed at.
