  1. Thanks for your response! It's partially a matter of priorities (class vs work/lab) and partially me wanting to slacking off. Seems like I should keep working at it...... <1 year left!
  2. A similar question to this. I have a 3.64 GPA, and might get a C or 2 in major classes. Would grad schools possibly rescind their offer down the line, for admissions or fellowships? And would a C be seen differently as a P?
  3. How much do grades matter in senior year? I'm submitting all my applications at the end of November. I have a 3.64 right now. I've only gotten 1 C before, that was first quarter of college in remedial writing. Since then, my lowest grade has been a couple of Bs. How bad would it be if I got a C or 2 this year (senior year) in classes like Advanced Molecular Biology or Cell Biology (I'm a genetics major). It would barely drop my grade (I would still have 3.6+). Would it not matter since the rest of my grades are pretty good, or might I get my offer of admission or fellowship rescinded? And if I choose to take it pass/fail, would the situation be any different?
  4. Thank you so much for your advice!
  5. I'm actually more interested in biostatistics I'm currently a sophomore at UC Davis, majoring in applied statistics with a concentration in evolution and ecology, genetics, or molecular and cellular biology. My GPA is at a 3.42 right now, I feel that it's just falling more and more as the quarters go on. What about the other UCs? Are their programs not as good? And SJSU has a Professionals Master Degree, is that viewed the same as a Masters of Science?
  6. Thanks Shostakovich! Yeah, I'm planning on just getting a MS then finding a job. Now I guess I don't have to worry so much over a few bad grades?
  7. Shostakovich, would you mind elaborating on that?
  8. I'm currently a sophomore majoring in Statistics. I've been looking at grad schools, and I do have a question. If I just want to end up in industry, a masters would suffice, correct? And does where I get my masters matter when I'm looking for jobs? Also, a few questions on coursework. I have the choice of majoring in general statistics, or applied statistics. General statistics includes some upper div math courses, while for applied statistics, I have the choice of taking 5 upper div courses in a related field, such as econ or bio. I'm not sure which route I want to take. Which would be the most beneficial, looking down the road to the future? How would each affect me in the future?
